Basic stays the course, routs Sundevils

Basic was set up to have a letdown game Friday against Eldorado, one week after taking an emotional win at rival Green Valley.

But the sixth-ranked Wolves never wavered, controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball en route to a 52-0 romp over the Sundevils.

Basic (6-1, 2-0 Southeast) rolled up 323 rushing yards in the game. The Wolves set the tone on the opening drive of the game, as five of their first six rushing attempts went for 11 yards or more.

Sean White led the way, racking up 102 yards and a pair of TDs on just eight first-half carries.

White said the Wolves were ready to take care of business.

"The only thing we worried about tonight is we didn't want to overlook this team and get surprised," said White, who had scoring runs of 11 and 7 yards to cap Basic's first two drives of the game. "But I was not really too worried. We knew we had a job to do out here. And the line executed, blocked right and allowed me to get running."

And once White got it started, the Wolves didn't stop, as 12 different Basic players ran the ball in the game.

Quarterbacks Aaron McAllister and Aeneas McAllister, along with running backs Patrick Lustini and Xavier Cuduto, all had a rushing touchdown for the Wolves.

On the other side of the ball, the Wolves' defense was even more dominant. Basic held Eldorado (2-5, 0-2 Southeast) to 43 yards of offense, while coming up with 3 turnovers, 5 sacks, a touchdown return on interception and a safety.

Linebacker Kyle Grismanouskas, who had a pair of sacks and forced a fumble, said getting a shutout is always the team's goal.

"We always think shutout," he said. "We worked on a lot of technique all week and it just prepared us for this game. We are just trying to prove our dominance on defense."

J.J. Cabero had three sacks for Basic, including one in the endzone for a sack in the fourth quarter. Jonnie Tapia had a 32-yard interception return for the Wolves.

Basic will now turn its attention to Thursday's showdown with Foothill. White said he expects a stiff test from the Falcons.

"We know they are going to put up a fight," White said. "But we know if we go in there and play at the top of our game, we will be able to handle them."
