Diamondbacks run over Pahrump

Chaunsi Heatley carried eight times for 113 yards and scored on runs of 18, 9 and 56 yards Thursday to lead Desert Oasis to a 41-0 rout of visiting Pahrump Valley.

The Diamondbacks (5-2, 4-1 Southwest) piled up 439 rushing yards. Devin Fortenberry rushed 12 times for 91 yards for the Diamondbacks, and teammate Trevon Barnes added 77 yards and two scores on seven attempts.
“We have a lot of different people that we can go to,” Desert Oasis coach Faron Seibel said. “Running the option the way we do, that’s kind of what we look for.”
Desert Oasis needed only five plays in 1:58 to score on its opening drive with Heatley’s 18-yard run, then recovered an onside kick. Five plays and 49 yards later, Barnes ran for a 5-yard TD to give the Diamondbacks a 13-0 lead before Pahrump even had a possession.
Jonathan Mitchell ran for 21 yards on 15 carries to lead the Trojans (0-6, 0-4), who lost their 24th straight game.
