Local football players receive scholarships

Fifteen local senior football players received scholarships in an awards banquet at Cashman Field on Monday.
The scholarships were provided by the Bill Ireland-Las Vegas Chapter of the National Football Foundation. The scholarships ranged between between $500 and $2,500.
The recipients were Arbor View’s Troy Gross, Canyon Springs’ Marquon Webster, Cheyenne’s Cory Broadhead, Cimarron-Memorial’s Brandon Robinson, Clark’s Kyle Yoder, Durango’s Julious McLaurine, Faith Lutheran’s Joe Portaro, Foothill’s Keegan Buck, Legacy’s Mario Fines, Mojave’s Joseph Jenkins, Palo Verde’s Chaisson Prescott, Rancho’s Angel Gomez, Sierra Vista’s Cameron Carlson, Spring Valley’s Brandon Lopez and Valley’s Koami Attila.
Webster has committed to Southern, and Lopez (Southern Utah) and Portaro (UNLV) accepted walk-on invitations.
Gomez signed to wrestle at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa.
