Lopez’s 2-point conversion lifts Gators past Pirates

Green Valley’s Kris Hanson caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Paul McKay with 1:40 remaining, then Ryan Lopez ran for the 2-point conversion for the decisive points for the Gators (3-3) in a 23-22 road victory over Moapa Valley on Friday night.

David George made an interception with 19 seconds left to seal the win.

Green Valley’s Aaron Love scored on runs of 40 and 22 yards among his 126 yards on 17 carries, and McKay completed 19 of 31 passes for 201 yards.

The Class 3A Pirates (2-3) were led by Kelan Weiss, who passed for 283 yards and three scores. Hayden Cooper caught nine passes for 125 yards and two TDs, and Casen Lewis made eight catches for 121 yards and a TD.
