ROUNDUP: Panthers’ Polster converts late PK, hands Legacy first loss

Matt Polster’s penalty-kick goal seconds before the final whistle Friday lifted Palo Verde’s boys soccer team to a 2-1 home win over previously unbeaten Legacy.
Polster was fouled in the box in the final minute and given a penalty kick. With the final seconds ticking down, he buried the shot and moved the Panthers (11-1-2, 11-1-2 Northwest) within two points of the Northwest League-leading Longhorns (13-1-1, 12-1-1).
Alexander Shackley’s goal gave the Panthers a 1-0 halftime lead, but Legacy’s Saul Aguirre tied the match, setting the stage for Polster’s dramatic match-winner.
Shadow Ridge 6, Mojave 5 — At Mojave, Blake Damato tallied three goals and an assist as the Mustangs outlasted the Rattlers in a match that featured four second-half goals by each team.
Juan Gutierrez added a goal and two assists, and Cody Westlund and Jacob Ewing each scored for Shadow Ridge, which got two assists from Cody Tesoro.
Benjamin Soto paced Mojave with three goals and an assist. Jesus Montes added two goals, and Faustino Ramirez distributed two assists for the Rattlers.
Arbor View 6, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Arbor View, Nico Johnson scored three goals, and Andre Winchell added a goal and two assists as the Aggies routed the Crusaders.
Hunter Hill and Brett Shapiro also scored for Arbor View.
Christian Hallstrom and Richie Garness combined on the shutout for the Aggies.
Centennial 6, Cheyenne 0 — At Centennial, Chance Rosa tallied three goals as the Bulldogs rolled past the Desert Shields.
Blake Frischknecht added a goal and two assists, and Erik Christiansen and Tony Sanchez each had a goal and an assist for Centennial.
Adrian Rodriguez was in goal for the shutout.
Western 4, Spring Valley 0 — At Western, Mario Mendoza scored twice, and Jonathan Sanchez distributed three assists to help the Warriors blank the Grizzlies.
Armando Herrera and Joshua Ballard added a goal apiece for Western.
Reynaldo Velazquez made two saves en route to the shutout.
Bonanza 7, Durango 1 — At Bonanza, Robert Sagel struck for three goals, and Giovanni Rodriguez notched a goal and four assists in the Bengals’ rout of the Trailblazers.
Sergio Rodriguez added two goals, and Daniel Hernandez also scored for Bonanza.
Enrico Estrada tallied Durango’s goal.
Bishop Gorman 5, Clark 0 — At Clark, Blake Balelo, Jason Eng, Michael Gray, Austin Moore and Shane Thompson scored a goal apiece as the Gaels blanked the Chargers.
Thomas Olsen registered the shutout for Gorman.
Desert Oasis 3, Pahrump Valley 3 — At Pahrump, Mauricio Fernandez scored twice, and Daniel Eslinger added a goal as the Diamondbacks earned a tie with the Trojans.
Jason Garcia tallied a pair of goals, and Martin Apolinar scored once for Pahrump.
Boulder City 2, Virgin Valley 1 — At Mesquite, Massimo Barbieri headed in a corner kick with nearly nine minutes remaining as the Eagles nipped the Bulldogs.
Barbieri redirected Trevor Montgomery’s corner kick into the far corner of the goal to break a 1-1 tie.
Daniel Andrade scored a first-half goal for Boulder City.
William Lara tallied a first-half marker for Virgin Valley.
The Meadows 4, Moapa Valley 2 — At Overton, Corin Galati notched two goals and an assist to lift the Mustangs past the Pirates.
Toby Warburton added a goal and an assist, and Alicia Blackham also scored for The Meadows.
Borha Mateos and Tim Burkey tallied Moapa Valley’s goals.
