ROUNDUP: Tuiofea’s goal gives Panthers No. 2 seed for Sunset tourney

Sila Tuiofea’s unassisted goal 10 minutes into the second half helped Palo Verde’s girls soccer team hold off host Centennial, 1-0 and clinch the Northwest League’s No. 2 seed for the Sunset Region playoffs.

Tuiofea dribbled the ball just outside of the 18-yard box before blasting a low shot to the left corner that caught Centennial’s defense flat-footed with 30 minutes to play.

Palo Verde (12-5-3, 11-3 Northwest) will face Southwest No. 3 Desert Oasis (9-7-2, 8-4-2 Southwest) in the first round of the playoffs Tuesday at Faith Lutheran.

The Bulldogs (9-3-2) fell to the No. 4 seed, and draw Southwest League champion Spring Valley (13-1-3, 12-0-2 Southwest) on Tuesday at Faith Lutheran.

Arbor View 2, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Cimarron, Breanna Larkin banged in a header in the second half to help the Aggies secure the Northwest’s top playoff seed with a win over the Spartans.

Falon Miller scored midway through the first half for Arbor View, which will play Sierra Vista on Tuesday.

Kyla Salazar was in goal to pick up the shutout.

Shadow Ridge 1, Cheyenne 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Mackensie Espiritu scored off a corner kick by Vanessa Pena to help the Mustangs outlast the Desert Shields.

Dallas Gunny posted a three-save shutout for the Mustangs, who face Bishop Gorman in the first round of the playoffs.

Spring Valley 8, Clark 0 — At Spring Valley, Markie Henderson totaled four goals and two assists as the Grizzlies finished unbeaten in Southwest play en route to the league title.

Bailey Boyack added a goal and four assists for Spring Valley, and teammates Nattaly Aleman and Alyssa Gomez each had a goal and an assist.

Whitney Carr also scored for the Grizzlies.

Megan Delaney registered the one-save shutout for Spring Valley.

Bishop Gorman 3, Sierra Vista 0 — At Sierra Vista, Haley Wingender had a goal and an assist to lead the Gaels by the Mountain Lions.

Kaila Brinkman and Mia Moore each added a goal for Gorman.

Sam Higgins and Angelica Pawlowski combined on the shutout.

Desert Oasis 4, Western 0 — At Desert Oasis, Kayla Irman tallied three goals and an assist as the Diamondbacks blanked the Warriors and clinched the Southwest’s No. 3 seed.

Sunny Ventura also scored for Desert Oasis.

Kaylann Saucedo made four saves to earn the shutout.

Bonanza 3, Durango 0 — At Bonanza, Kara Kwasniowski netted two goals to send the Bengals past the Trailblazers.

Haley Davidson also scored for Bonanza.

Sami Haeick recorded the shutout.

Legacy 1, Mojave 0 — At Legacy, Ilse Perez scored a first-half goal to help the Longhorns edge the Rattlers.

Mariah Mendoza was in goal for the shutout.
