SMALL SCHOOLS: Boulder City boys, girls punch ticket for state semifinals

Peter Standjordet scored a pair of first-half goals Saturday to lead Boulder City’s boys soccer team to a 2-0 win over The Meadows in the Class 3A Southern League championship match at Overton.
Trevor Montgomery assisted on both goals for the Eagles, who will face South Tahoe in a state semifinal Friday at 4 p.m. in Mesquite.
Richard Pappas made four saves to earn the shutout for Boulder City (11-7-1).
The Meadows finished 8-5-3.
GIRLS
Gabriella Correales scored the lone goal of the match with five minutes remaining as Boulder City (10-5) advanced to the Class 3A state semifinals with a 1-0 win over Virgin Valley (6-11-2).
Correales’ goal ricocheted in off a pair of defenders and the Bulldogs’ goalkeeper.
Eagles keeper Mikaela Stevens made six saves to notch the shutout.
The Eagles will face Elko in a semifinal Friday at 6 p.m. in Mesquite.
