Soccer teams scramble for postseason seeds

Who knew there’d be a chance the girls soccer playoffs might start before the Sunset Region boys basketball tournament?
Maybe not quite, but the Class 4A Southern Nevada girls soccer postseason is set to begin Monday at Bettye Wilson Park.
With most teams still having one league match remaining, here’s a look at what each team needs to do to move up, down, in or out in the postseason picture.
SUNRISE REGION
Northeast League
Rancho (12-0-2, 38 points) clinched the No. 1 seed with its win over Canyon Springs on Thursday.
Eldorado (11-1-2, 35) is the No. 2 seed.

Las Vegas (8-4-2, 26) has clinched the No. 3 seed.

Chaparral (5-6-3, 18) locked up the No. 4 seed by beating Desert Pines on Thursday.
Southeast League
Green Valley (13-0-1, 40) wrapped up the No. 1 seed by downing second-seeded Silverado (11-2-1, 34) on Thursday.
Coronado (10-2-2, 32) has clinched the No. 3 seed.

Tech (5-6-3, 18) edged out Basic for the No. 4 seed.
SUNSET REGION
Northwest League
Arbor View (13-1-0, 39) grabbed the league’s No. 1 seed Wednesday by beating Palo Verde.
The Panthers (12-1-1, 37) clinched the No. 2 seed.
Centennial (9-3-1, 28) is locked into the third slot.
The No. 4 slot will be occupied by either Shadow Ridge (6-6-1, 19) or Cimarron-Memorial (5-7-1, 16), which meet Friday at Cimarron.
Cimarron must win the match to get the No. 4 seed as a win in that match would give the Spartans a 1-0-1 head-to-head record against the Mustangs.
A Shadow Ridge win or tie puts the Mustangs into the playoffs.

Southwest League
Bishop Gorman (12-0-1, 37) is the No. 1 seed, followed by Spring Valley (10-3-1, 31).

Western (5-4-4, 19) and Bonanza (5-5-3, 18) have clinched the other two spots but could still change places.
Western went 1-0-1 vs. Bonanza and holds the tiebreaker edge should the teams both finish with 19 points.
Bonanza must win and have Western lose or tie to get the No. 3 seed. Otherwise the third seed belongs to the Warriors.
