ROUNDUP: Manthei’s one-hitter sparks Valley over Chargers

Kristina Manthei tossed a one-hitter and struck out 12 Thursday to lead Valley’s softball team to a 7-0 home win over Clark.

Manthei allowed only a sixth-inning single.

Olga Torres was 2-for-2 for Valley.

Coronado 2, Durango 0 — At Coronado, Alex Battest went 1-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Cougars past the Trailblazers.

Danielle Amato tossed a four-hitter for Coronado.

Palo Verde 6, Rancho 3 — At Palo Verde, Jorden Menke went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Rachel Wiliams was 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Panthers by the Rams.

McKinzi Vega was 3-for-3 with a double for Rancho.

Centennial 10, Foothill 3 — At Centennial, Savannah Horvath’s RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning broke a 3-3 tie, and the Bulldogs tacked on two more runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to pull away from the Falcons.

Winning pitcher Taylor Huntly went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs for Centennial. Alyssa Finger was 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs, and Horvath went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Madison Henzlik also was 2-for-4 for the Bulldogs.

Aricia Dami was 1-for-3 with a two-run double for Foothill.

Bishop Gorman 1, Kofa (Ariz) 0 — At Gorman, Shelby Estocado’s single plated Carrie Keller with the game’s only run in the fourth inning as the Gaels nipped Kofa in five innings in the Kick Off the Season Tournament.

Dayton Yingling tossed a two-hitter with four strikeouts for Gorman.

Estocado was 2-for-2, and Jasmine Gibson went 2-for-3 for the Gaels.

Bishop Gorman 13, Pahrump Valley 1 — At Gorman, Alexandria Gordon was 3-for-3 with three runs scored to help the Gaels rout the Trojans in four innings in the Kick Off the Season Tournament.

Yingling and Samantha Stanfield combined on a two-hitter for Gorman.

Foothill 12, Campbell Hall (Calif.) 3 — At Gorman, Dami was 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, and McKenna King went 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI as the Falcons downed Campbell Hall in five innings in the Kick Off the Season Tournament.

Jordan Corn added a home run for Foothill.

Silverado 18, Eldorado 1 — At Eldorado, The Skyhawks utilized an 11-run second inning to down the Sundevils.

The Skyhawks pounded out six doubles and a triple.

Sunrise Mountain 11, Del Sol 4 — At Sunrise Mountain, the Miners used an eight-run sixth inning to rally past the Dragons.

Andrea Garner tossed a five-hitter for Sunrise Mountain.

Bishop Manogue 6, Faith Lutheran 2 — At Faith Lutheran, the Miners broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the top of the sixth inning and downed the Crusaders.

Stacie Graham and Kelly Zufall each went 2-for-3 for Faith Lutheran.

Indian Springs 20, Calvary Chapel 0 — At Mountain View, Heather Thormahlen tossed a three-inning no-hitter and supplied an RBI single and two runs as the Thunderbirds routed the Lions in the Spring Slam.

Lincoln County 12, Lake Mead 1 — At Mountain View, Chesnee Harding threw a four-inning two-hitter and added two hits, an RBI and a run scored to power the Lynx past the Eagles in the Spring Slam.

Brianna Foster had an RBI single for Lake Mead.

University Prep (Calif.) 17, Mountain View 0 — At Mountain View, the Jaguars racked up nine hits and took advantage of 17 errors to shut out the host Saints in the Spring Slam.

Arizona Lutheran (Ariz.) 13, Lake Mead 1 — At Mountain View, the Coyotes routed the Eagles in the Spring Slam.
