ROUNDUP: Merritt’s hit lifts Centennial past Spartans

Kassidy Merritt’s infield single plated pinch-runner Alyssa Finger for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday as Centennial’s softball team rallied for a 2-1 win over visiting Cimarron-Memorial.
Centennial trailed 1-0 entering the seventh. Mikayla Djordjevic drew a walk to start the rally, and Alyssa Hotman tripled to drive in the tying run.
Finger pinch-ran for Hotman and scored on Merritt's hit.
Hannah Williams doubled and singled for the Spartans.
Durango 17, Spring Valley 0 — At Durango, Nicole Herrera tossed a five-inning no-hitter with eight strikeouts and went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead the Trailblazers to an easy win over the Grizzlies.
Samantha Juarez and Mindy Larson each cracked a three-run homer for Durango.
Liberty 4, Basic 1 — At Liberty, pitchers Francesca Foti and Breanna English each had six strikeouts as the Patriots held Basic to one hit and handed the Wolves (11-1) their first loss of the season.
Nikki Blindeagle hit a home run in the bottom of fourth inning to give the Patriots (14-3) control.
Lacey Romo finished with 10 strikeouts for Basic.
Green Valley 14, Coronado 4 — At Green Valley, Alicia Firelein went 3-for-4 with a home run to lift the Gators past the Cougars in six innings.
 
Shelby Vickers was 3-for-4 with a triple and a double for Green Valley.
Coronado’s Kim Dawson was 3-for-3 with three RBIs.
Foothill 6, Tech 4 — At Tech, Lauren Penksa’s two-out single in the top of the seventh inning was misplayed, allowing Foothill to score the tying and go-ahead runs and stun the Roadrunners.
Foothill trailed 4-3 and had two outs and only one runner on base before rallying to pull out the win.
Myranda Mortel hit a solo home run for the Foothill in the sixth inning.
Nicole Lesniak belted a pair of doubles for Tech.
Silverado 11, Del Sol 1 — At Silverado, Alyson Kosinski tossed a five-inning one-hitter with nine strikeouts and one walk to lead the Skyhawks in a rout of the Dragons.
Emily Galante went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Silverado, and teammate Mayra Gomez was 3-for-3 with three runs.
Desert Oasis 8, Clark 3 — At Clark, Emily Heinz batted 4-for-5 with three doubles, a home run and five RBIs as the Diamondbacks scored five runs in the seventh inning to down the host Chargers.
Andrea McIntosh was 3-for-4 for Desert Oasis.
Jasmine Fukuda went 4-for-4 with an RBI for Clark.
Bishop Gorman 19, Western 4 — At Western, Gracie Martinez had four of the Gaels’ 21 hits as Bishop Gorman won its first game of the season by routing the Warriors.
Gorman scored eight runs in the first inning and seven more in the second to put away the game early.
Pahrump Valley 17, Sierra Vista 3 — At Sierra Vista, Nikki Zinnecker went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, and Pahrump used a 10-run first inning to roll past the Mountain Lions.
Rachel Hartwick added a bases-loaded triple for the Trojans.
Aubrey Cobel tossed a five-inning two-hitter and struck out eight for Pahrump.
Arbor View 4, Cheyenne 3 — At Arbor View, Karli Lehr scored the go-ahead run on an error in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Aggies edged Cheyenne.
Ashley Dawkins went 2-for-3 with a triple for Arbor View, which had three pitchers combine to allow only four hits.
Faith Lutheran 16, Mojave 2 — At Faith Lutheran, Kailey McEvilly went 2-for-3 with three RBIs as the Crusaders routed Mojave.
Maya Barnes added a triple and three RBIs for Faith Lutheran. Hayley Thomas pitched a five-inning four-hitter to earn the win.
Palo Verde 6, Shadow Ridge 0 — At Palo Verde, Melissa McCormick tossed a two-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI to lead the Panthers past the Mustangs.
Erika Stratton was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Lauryn Stover added a double for Palo Verde.
Mountain View 10-2, The Meadows 2-4 — At Mountain View, the Saints swept the Mustangs behind pitcher Alexia Alley who won both games, striking out 13 in the first game and 12 in the second.
Amber Gomez had a double and two triples, and Alley Cintron supplied a double and two RBIs and started a triple play for Mountain View in the second game.
Lake Mead 7, Indian Springs 2 — At Indian Springs, Lindsey Freund tossed a six-hitter to earn the win for the Eagles.
Amanda Wellman had two doubles, a triple and three RBIs, and Emma Khachikian added a triple and three RBIs for Lake Mead.
Heather Thormahlen and Brandi Bryl each had a triple for the Thunderbirds.
Henderson International 11, Pahranagat Valley 0 — At Alamo, Lee Harrison tossed a five-inning no-hitter and struck out seven, and the Wolverines scored eight runs in the fourth inning and three in the fifth to cruise past the Panthers.
The Wolverines had just six hits, but took advantage of eight walks and five errors by Pahranagat Valley.
