ROUNDUP: Tapuala, Wolves finish season sweep of Cougars

Tiana Tapuala went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lead Basic’s softball team to a 6-3 win at Coronado on Friday, completing the Wolves’ season sweep of the Cougars.

Marissa Ross was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs for Basic, which scored three runs in the top of the first and never trailed.

Leah Causey added two hits and two runs for the Wolves, who defeated Coronado 8-1 in the first meeting.

Danielle Amato went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Cougars.

Rancho 13, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Aly Lamboo pitched a five-inning no-hitter with two walks and eight strikeouts as the Rams blanked the Pioneers.

Brandy Marlett and Tessa Davilla each went 3-for-3 for Rancho, which scored four runs in the fourth inning and nine in the fifth. McKinzi Vega and Devine Camberos each went 2-for-2 for the Rams.

Eldorado 11, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Ashley Jarzombek pitched a five-inning no-hitter with 16 strikeouts and one hit batter as the Sundevils blanked the Jaguars.

Jarzombek also doubled and tripled for Eldorado.

Green Valley 5, Silverado 0 — At Silverado, Fenixx Henderson tossed a two-hitter and struck out six to lead the Gators by the Skyhawks.

Henderson, whose team scored four runs in the first inning, helped herself at the plate by going 3-for-4. Teammate Cori Sutton was 2-for-4.

Valley 6, Chaparral 4 — At Chaparral, the Vikings used a pair of three-run innings to down the Cowboys.

Katie Brown was 3-for-4 with a double, and Lauren Lesniak went 2-for-4 with a double for Chaparral.

Liberty 8, Tech 3 — At Liberty, Francesca Foti tossed a seven-hitter with 10 strikeouts and went 2-for-2 with a double as the Patriots topped the Roadrunners.

Kennedy Courtney was 3-for-3 for Liberty.

Austyn Dziewit went 3-for-3 with a triple for Tech.

Foothill 12, Del Sol 0 — At Foothill, Maddy Pike went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and an RBI to help the Falcons roll the Dragons in five innings.

Aricia Dami was 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Foothill, which scored eight runs in the first inning and finished with 19 hits.

Jordyn Derflinger pitched a four-hitter to get the win.

Stephanie Keller was 2-for-3 with a double for Del Sol.

Legacy 14, Faith Lutheran 2 — At Faith Lutheran, the Longhorns scored 10 runs in the top of the fifth to pull away from the Crusaders.

Gabrielle Rinker was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Alexis Fuller went 3-for-4 with a double for Legacy.

Faith Lutheran’s Vanessa Valdez went 3-for-3.

Las Vegas 14, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, the Wildcats scored 11 runs in the top of the sixth to pull away.

Cierra Turner went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Kristina Nelson was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for Las Vegas.

Nelson also threw a two-hitter to get the win.

Palo Verde 13, Mojave 0 — At Mojave, Melissa Lacro pitched a five-inning three-hitter with three strikeouts and went 2-for-2 to lead the Panthers in a rout of the Rattlers.

Rachel Williams was 3-for-3 with a triple, and Angel Council went 2-for-3 for Palo Verde.

Cimarron-Memorial 25, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, Carli Stafford went 4-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run to lead the Spartans past the Desert Shields.

Sarah Murphy was 4-for-5 and also had an inside-the-park home run for Cimarron, and teammate Sarina Creswell went 4-for-5 with two doubles.

Shadow Ridge 10, Moapa Valley 4 — At Overton, Kylea Custer went 3-for-3 with a run to help the Mustangs top the Pirates.

Krislyn Campos was 2-for-4 with a run for Shadow Ridge, which scored in every inning.

Moapa Valley’s Bailey Owens went 2-for-3 with a run.

Boulder City 16-28, Virgin Valley 0-7 — At Mesquite, Karlee Koopman pitched a five-inning one-hitter with five strikeouts in the first game and went a combined 8-for-10 with a home run, two doubles and 10 RBIs as the Eagles clinched the Class 3A Southern League title with a sweep of the Bulldogs.

Koopman went 6-for-6 with eight RBIs in the nightcap, including a three-run homer.

Boulder City’s Kacey Ochoa was 3-for-4 with a triple and a double in the first game, and Ali Rants (three RBIs) and Jeanette McQuillan each added two hits.

Boulder City’s Taylor McKeever went 5-for-5 with a double in the second game, and Karlee Kovacevich was 2-for-4 with four RBIs.

Virgin Valley’s Halle Wakefield went 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs in the second game.

Mountain View 17-15, Calvary Chapel 2-11 — At Mountain View, Elle Germany went 3-for-7 with a home run and a double on the day to help the Saints sweep a doubleheader over the Lions.

Alley Cintron tossed a five-inning no-hitter in the first game, and went a combined 4-for-8 for Mountain View, which pulled off a second-inning triple play in the first game.

Laughlin 29-15, Lake Mead 16-2 — At Laughlin, Cassie Beggs went a combined 6-for-9 with two home runs, a triple, two doubles and 10 RBIs to lead the Cougars to a sweep of the Eagles.

Kayla Nelson had two doubles in the first game and went 4-for-4 with a home run, a triple and two doubles in the second game for Laughlin.

Laughlin’s Hannah Barbarita homered in the first game, and teammate Katie Skillingstad was 2-for-3 with a home run in the second game.

Needles 17-20, The Meadows 0-4 — At The Meadows, Abby Chandler went a combined 7-for-8 with four doubles and earned both wins in the circle as Needles swept The Meadows in a pair of five-inning games.

Robyn Monkarsh hit a two-run double for The Meadows in the second game.

Indian Springs 18-10, Sandy Valley 2-0 — At Indian Springs, Brandi Bryl pitched a pair of five-inning one-hitters to lead the Thunderbirds to a sweep of the Sidewinders.

Bryl struck out 10 in the opener and 12 in the nightcap, not allowing a walk all day. She also went a combined 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and five RBIs for the Thunderbirds.

Indian Springs’ Baylee McCormick went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and Kyli Lopez was 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the first game.

Mallory Frost went 2-for-3 for Indian Springs in the second game.

Pahranagat Valley 14-16, Tonopah 10-6 — At Alamo, Randi Jones went 2-for-7 with a three-run triple and seven RBIs on the day to help the Panthers sweep a doubleheader from the Muckers.

Traci Strong went a combined 3-for-3 with a double to help Pahranagat, and teammate Halie Lewis finished the day 4-for-7.

Harley Maughan went 3-for-7 on the day for Tonopah.
