ROUNDUP: Westgarth lifts Wildcats to top of Northeast heap

Ashly Westgarth doubled to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning and came around to score on a passed ball Thursday to give Las Vegas High’s softball team the edge over visiting Valley, 3-2 in a battle for first place in the Northeast League.

Jenice Gutierrez went 2-for-3 for the Wildcats (10-7, 4-0 Northeast), who scored twice in the fifth inning to take a 2-0 lead before Valley rallied with two runs in the top of the seventh.

Mickayla Romero was 2-for-3 with a double for the Vikings (6-10, 3-1).

Rancho 5, Eldorado 1 — At Eldorado, Amber Marlett tossed a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI to lead the Rams past the Sundevils.

Aly Lamboo was 2-for-4 with a run for Rancho.

Sunrise Mountain 7, Canyon Springs 3 — At Sunrise Mountain, Shannon Cyphert went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Miners past the Pioneers.

Kaiti Brown got the win, pitching a complete game with four strikeouts.

Chaparral 17, Desert Pines 5 — At Desert Pines, Peyton Hunton hit a pair of doubles, and the Cowboys scored the first 17 runs of the game en route to a five-inning win over the Jaguars.

Megan Robbins was 3-for-3 for Desert Pines.

Arbor View 11, Shadow Ridge 1 — At Shadow Ridge, Chelsa Baca went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and teammate Nichole Diaz was 2-for-4 with two RBIs as the Aggies blitzed the Mustangs in five innings.

Berlin Panduro went 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, and Karli Lehr was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Arbor View, which scored eight runs in the fifth inning.

Palo Verde 12, Cheyenne 1 — At Cheyenne, Melissa McCormick tossed a six-inning five-hitter with 11 strikeouts and had a double, a triple and two RBIs as the Panthers cruised past the Desert Shields.

Cheryl Iddings batted 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs, and Lauryn Stover was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Palo Verde.

Rachel Holly hit 3-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored, and Nina Manley supplied an RBI-single for Cheyenne.

Legacy 9, Cimarron-Memorial 4 — At Cimarron, winning pitcher Sierra Pico went 3-for-3 with a double as the Longhorns took a 5-0 lead in the first inning and coasted to the win over the Spartans.

Kayla Murray was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Legacy.

Starlyn Thomas was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Cimarron.

Centennial 21, Mojave 5 — At Mojave, Mikayla Djordjevic and Shantel Scarlett each had three doubles as the Bulldogs routed the Rattlers.

Sarah Cudahy and Taylor Huntly each added two doubles for Centennial, and Alyssa Hotman had a double and a triple.

Djordjevic was 4-for-4, and Cudahy, Scarlett and Hotman each went 3-for-5 for the Bulldogs.

Bonanza 13, Clark 9 — At Bonanza, Emily Osborn doubled and homered with four RBIs, and Cheyenne Wells doubled twice as the Bengals outslugged the Chargers.

Taylor Gordy-Prescott went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Bonanza.

Hannah Hagen had a two-run double, and Julianna Thornock supplied two hits for Clark.

Durango 15, Desert Oasis 8 — At Desert Oasis, Samantha Juarez went 3-for-4 with two triples, four runs and two RBIs to lead the Trailblazers past the Diamondbacks.

Taylor Short was 3-for-4 with a run and three RBIs; Katie Moore was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs; and Jaexie Balilea had a double and a triple for Durango.

Holly O’Hara (two runs, three RBIs) and Lenzi Cram (two RBIs) each hit 2-for-4 for Desert Oasis.

Pahrump Valley 8, Bishop Gorman 5 — At Gorman, Pahrump forced extra innings by taking advantage of two errors and a walk to score three runs in the top of the seventh and added four runs on three hits, two walks and a hit batter in the top of the 11th as the Trojans outlasted the Gaels.

Taylor Raymer went 3-for-6 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Miranda Monje was 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs for Pahrump Valley.

Miranda Robles was 3-for-5 with a triple and a run scored for Gorman, and teammate Machenzie Tucky went 3-for-4 with a double and a run.

Spring Valley 15, Sierra Vista 4 — At Spring Valley, Nicole Matyskiel tripled twice, scored twice and drove in two RBIs as the Grizzlies routed the Mountain Lions.

Katie Campo batted 3-for 3 with a home run and three RBIs, Nicole Lynch was 3-for-3 with two doubles, and Brittany Craig went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Spring Valley.

Kalene Sales-Watkins had an RBI single and a run scored for Sierra Vista.

Henderson International 18-10, Indian Springs 2-1 — At Henderson International, Lee Harrison tossed a five-inning two-hitter in the opener and smacked a home run in the nightcap as the Wolverines swept the Thunderbirds.

Harrison struck out 11 and went 3-for-3 with a triple in the first game. Pamela Sakuma was 3-for-4 with a homer, and teammate Alyssa Ayers was 4-for-4 with a double in the opener.

In the nightcap, Hailey Schulz fired a four-hitter and went 3-for-3 with a home run. Sakuma was 2-for-4 with a double.

Brandy Bryl had a double in each game for the Thunderbirds.

Lake Mead 12, Laughlin 2  — At Lake Mead, Emma Khachikian went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Annie Liston scored three runs to lead the Eagles past the Cougars in five innings.
