SOFTBALL: Centennial’s Cudahy fires no-hitter

Cheyenne Cudahy tossed a no-hitter and struck out 12 Wednesday to lead host Centennial’s softball team to a 9-0 win over Valley.

Cudahy walked one.

Kiana Tate was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Angel Love went 2-for-4 with two triples and two RBIs for Centennial. Jaden Tate was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Bulldogs.

Virgin Valley 12, Chaparral 11 — At Mesquite, Adri Wakefield struck out the final batter of the game with the potential tying run in scoring position to preserve the Bulldogs’ win over the Cowboys.

Virgin Valley took a 12-7 lead into the seventh before Chaparral rallied. Wakefield, who came on in relief, induced a double-play grounder to get the first two outs. Following a Chaparral hit, Wakefield got the strikeout to end the game.

Taylor Barnum had two hits, including a double, for Virgin Valley.

Desert Oasis 8, Las Vegas 7 — At Las Vegas, Scarlett Hurtado had two hits, including a double, and the Diamondbacks held off the Wildcats.

Maggie Shepard had a hit and two RBIs for Desert Oasis, which scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take an 8-5 lead. Las Vegas scored twice in the bottom of the seventh and left the potential tying run stranded at third when a fly out ended the game.

Daylon Brooks and Arienn Ackerman each had two hits for Las Vegas. Skylar Gorrell added a double and two RBIs for the Wildcats.

Palo Verde 14, Liberty 5 — At Liberty, Makall Whetten went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, and Emily Guthrie was 3-for-4 with a triple as the Panthers stormed past the Patriots.

Grace Chavez was 3-for-4 with a double, and Kali Tomlinson went 3-for-4 for Palo Verde.

Marisa Olmos and McKenna Hefley each had two hits and an RBI for Liberty.

Boulder City 14, Sunrise Mountain 2 — At Boulder City, Charlene Masterson threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts to lead the Eagles by the Miners in five innings.

Alyssa Ybarra went 3-for-4 for Boulder City, and Jessica Embro and Masterson each added two hits for the Eagles.

Lauren Axelson and Lily Osman each scored three runs for Boulder City.

Silverado 18, Bonanza 4 — At Silverado, Sarah Ford went 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBIs, and Korina Pindel was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs to lead the Skyhawks by the Bengals in five innings.

Hanna McCall was 3-for-4 with a triple and four runs, and Gabby Santiago and Taryn Southerland each went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Silverado.

Bonanza’s Caitlyn Lloyd was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Ashlee McKenna was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Bengals.

Tech 21, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Katy Orellano and Victoria Keane each had three hits as the Roadrunners routed the Dragons in five innings.

Gizele Cascos had a double and a single for Tech.

Moapa Valley 22, Desert Pines 1 — At Desert Pines, Kinlee Marshall had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs as the Panthers blitzed the Jaguars in five innings.

Makayla Jackson doubled twice and tripled, and Tapanga Durham had two hits and two RBIs for Moapa Valley.

Maiya Richardson had a double and an RBI for Desert Pines.
