SOFTBALL: Witucki hits for cycle as Gaels roll to victory

Bishop Gorman’s Ashley Witucki hit for the cycle Friday to lead the Gaels to a 13-3, six-inning softball win over visiting Pahrump Valley.

Witucki was 4-for-4, and Hannah Gondini went 3-for-4 to lead Gorman’s 15-hit attack. Reyna Martin and Sierra Dias each went 2-for-3 for the Gaels, who scored six runs in the fourth inning.

Amanda Pryor and Jordan Egan each went 2-for-4 with a double for Pahrump.

Green Valley 4, Valley 1 — At Green Valley, Amber Calderon doubled home Tara Hilton and Alexa Blazek to highlight a four-run fourth inning as the Gators defeated the Vikings.

Calderon finished 2-for-3 with a double and triple and two RBIs. Allie Lamb went the distance to get the win, allowing five hits and one walk.

Las Vegas 9, Sierra Vista 8 — At Las Vegas, Samantha Taylor walked with the bases loaded to force home Bethany Connell with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to give the Wildcats the win over the Mountain Lions.

Taylor was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI to lead Las Vegas’ 15-hit attack.

Taylor DeGuzman went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Sierra Vista, which scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead.

Faith Lutheran 17, Desert Pines 5 — At Faith Lutheran, Breanna Hemphill was 3-for-4 with a triple, a homer, four RBIs and three runs as the Crusaders routed the Jaguars in five innings.

It was Hemphill’s first varsity home run.

Vanessa Valdez, Kailee Myxter and Lauren Beatty each went 3-for-3 for the Crusaders, who scored 10 runs in the second inning.

Valdez and Myxter each had a double and three runs, and Beatty had a double, two runs and two RBIs.

Valdez also pitched four innings to get her first varsity victory.

Cimarron-Memorial 5, Legacy 4 — At Cimarron, Rebecca Johnson scored on Rosie Del Rosario’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth to break a 4-4 tie and give the Spartans the win over the Longhorns.

Cierra Davis was 2-for-3 for Cimarron.

Lindsey Fishman went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Legacy.

Parowan (Utah) 14, Virgin Valley 4 — At Mesquite, Allie Simpson homered to help lead the Rams over the Bulldogs in five innings.

Janella Fiso doubled for Virgin Valley.

Pahranagat Valley 19-18, Sandy Valley 7-0 — At Sandy Valley, Ashlyn Wadsworth struck out eight and spun a five-inning two-hitter in the nightcap to help the Panthers sweep the Sidewinders.

Brook Higbee was 6-for-6 with a double and six RBIs in the doubleheader. Madison Harris added two triples and five RBIs for the Panthers.

Kaitlyn Davis struck out six in five innings to get the win in the opener.

Needles 17-18, Mountain View 10-5 — At Mountain View, Melanie Leslie-Merchain was 2-for-4 with a homer and five RBIs in the nightcap to lead the Mustangs over the Saints.

Savannah Alley was 2-for-3 with two homers and four RBIs in the second game for Mountain View.

Needles scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the win in the opener.

Brenna Chavez was 2-for-4 with a double in that game for Needles.

Alley went 3-for-4, and Elle Germany was 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Saints.

The Meadows 26-24, Agassi Prep 16-5 — At Doolittle Park, Rachel Siegel went 1-for-4 with a double, four runs and two RBIs in the opener and 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, three runs and four RBIs in the nightcap as the Mustangs swept the Stars.

Dani Otter was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Missy Siegel went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs in the first game for the Meadows.

In the nightcap, Otter was 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs, and Amanda Hansen went 3-for-4 with two doubles, four runs and three RBIs for the Mustangs.
