Arbor View sweeps titles at Richard Lewis Invitational

Arbor View’s boys track team swept the relays Friday to place first in the 14-team Richard Lewis Invitational in Overton.

The Aggies, who also had the winner in every distance event, won with 198½ points.

Cameron Barnes won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 12.32 seconds. Tim Myers was first in the 1,600 (4:53.09) and Ian Jackson took the 3,200 (10:28.35) for Arbor View.

Ilias Garcia won the 100 (10.76) and the 200 (22.59) for second-place Bonanza, which finished with 115½ points. Legacy was third with 82½ points, followed by Faith Lutheran (63½) and Cimarron-Memorial (63).

Jamaal Britt won the long jump with an effort of 21 feet, 8 inches and the 300 hurdles (40.24) for the Longhorns.

Moapa Valley’s Hunter Soderquist swept the throws, taking the discus (141-5) and the shot put (48-7).

Kaitlin Gibb won two individual events as the Aggies also won the girls meet.

Gibb cleared 10 feet to win the pole vault and also took the 100 hurdles (15.42) for Arbor View, which had 175 points.

Faith Lutheran was second with 123½ points, followed by Legacy (93), Virgin Valley (64), Moapa Valley (50), Cheyenne (46) and Bonanza (43½).

Maggie Shuirman was the day’s only other double-winner, as the freshman won the 800 (2:36.62) and 1,600 (5:41.43) for the Crusaders.

Legacy’s Alexys Saiz won the long jump with an effort of 16-4 and was second in the 300 hurdles (48.87).
