GIRLS TRACK: Land’s sprints lead Sierra Vista to victory in three-team meet

Sydney Land won the 200- and 400-meter dashes Tuesday to help Sierra Vista’s girls track team win a three-team meet at Durango.

The Mountain Lions had 68 points. Durango was second with 64, followed by Calvary Chapel with 28.

Aundriana Gaston won the discus with a throw of 69 feet, 8 inches for Sierra Vista, which had 11 girls place second.

Andrea Lopez won the 800 (2:40.5) and 1600 (6:28.8) for Durango, and teammate Yasmine Thigpen swept the hurdles with times of 15.8 in the 100 and 47.9 in the 300.

Calvary Chapel’s Phallen Nelson and Talia Sapp also won two events apiece. Nelson won the 100 in 12.9 and the long jump with a mark of 14-5. Sapp’s high jump (4-5) and triple jump (28-10) were best for girls.

Bulldogs roll past Spartans

At Cimarron-Memorial, Holli Dunn, Sydney Badger, Tiana Bonds and Lauren Ritter each won two events as Centennial routed the Spartans, 125½-45½.

Dunn won the 100 (12.41) and 400 (1:01.3). Badger took first in the 800 (2:29.2) and 1,600 (5:10.4). Bonds won the 100 hurdles (13.31) and 300 hurdles (42.0). Ritter won the pole vault (9-6) and triple jump (28-8½).

Aggies overwhelm Grizzlies

At Arbor View, Madison Fletcher, Danica Hammond, Jocelyn Jordan and Aelicia Taylor won two events apiece to help the Aggies to a 109.17-36.83 victory over Spring Valley.

Fletcher won the 800 (2:44.6) and the 1,600 (5:56.9), and Hammond took first in the 100 hurdles (18.0) and high jump (4-10).

Jordan captured the long jump (15-10) and triple jump (35-5). Taylor won the 200 (26.2) and tied for first in the 100 with teammate Madison Aldred at 13.2.

Panthers win tri-meet

At Palo Verde, Marissa Suan won the 800 and 1,600 to lead the Panthers to the home victory over Shadow Ridge and The Meadows.

Suan took the 800 in 2:29.6, and won the 1,600 in 5:26.5 for Palo Verde, which had 78½ points. Shadow Ridge (50) was second, and The Meadows (16½) third.

The Meadows’ Dani Chami won the long jump (15-0) and pole vault (8-0).

Maxey leads Crusaders to win

At Western, Clarissa Maxey won the 100 (12.6) and 200 (25.9) to lead Faith Lutheran to victory with 115 points.

Sunrise Mountain (77) was second, followed by Virgin Valley (51) and Western (16).

Sunrise Mounain’s Ebonique Diaz won the 400 (1:00.4) and 3,200 (11:41).
