GIRLS TRACK: Maxey, Nikodemus lead Crusaders to victory in three-team meet

Clarissa Maxey and Cayla Nikodemus each won two individual events Tuesday to help host Faith Lutheran’s girls track team to victory in a three-team meet.

The Crusaders had 136 points. Del Sol was second with 36, and Western had two points.

Maxey won the 100-meter dash in 11.8 seconds and the 200 in 25.2, and Nikodemus won the 400 in 1:04.9 and took the long jump with an effort of 15 feet, 5 inches.

Del Sol’s Ingrid Zarate won the 1,600 in 5:49.1 and the 3,200 in 13:07.2.

Gaels top Longhorns

At Bishop Gorman, Madison Washington and Jasmine Jordan each won an individual event and ran on the winning 1,600 relay team to lead the Gaels to 94-77 win over Legacy.

Washington won the long jump with a mark of 15-7½ and also placed third in the high jump. Jordan took the 400 in 1:03.21.

Kira Roth won the 100 hurdles (17.86), was second in the 100 and third in the 200 for the Gaels.

Legacy’s Nicole White took the 800 (2:43.21) and 1,600 (6:09.9).

Diamondbacks toll to win in three-team meet

At Desert Oasis, Tawny Rodriguez and Rachel Handelman each won two individual events to lead the Diamondbacks to victory in a three-team meet.

Rodriguez won the shot put (31-0½) and discus (99-0). Handelman was first in the long jump (14-10½) and triple jump (30-6½) for Desert Oasis, which finished with 129 points. Cimarron-Memorial was second with 22, and Calvary Chapel had 16.

Calvary Chapel’s Shelbi Byrnes won the 100 hurdles (17.7) and 300 hurdles (49.8).

Bulldogs top Arbor View

At Centennial, Alexis Gourrier and Talie Bonds each won two events to lead the Bulldogs to a 154½-111½ win over Arbor View.

Gourrier won the 800 (2:23.1) and 1,600 (5:22.8). Bonds swept the hurdles, taking the 100 hurdles in 15.8 and the 300 hurdles in 48.1.
