GIRLS TRACK: Nelson wins four events to boost Bengals

Sianna Nelson won four events Wednesday to lead Bonanza’s girls track team to an 88-58 victory over visiting Cimarron-Memorial in a Southwest League dual meet.

Nelson won the 300-meter hurdles in 49.6 seconds, and swept the jumps for the Bengals. She posted marks of 35 feet, 5 inches in the triple jump, 16-7 in the long jump and 4-8 in the high jump.

Sophomore Leia Royster won two events for Bonanza, taking the 200 in 26.8 and tying Nelson in the high jump at 4-8. Freshman Jamie Thorne won the 100 in 14.6 for the Bengals.

Julianna Brooks placed first in the 800 (2:38.0) and 1,600 (5:43.6) for Cimarron.

Bonds, Bulldogs top Gorman

At Bishop Gorman, Tiana Bonds won four individual events to help Centennial to a 116-21 win over the Gaels.

Bonds took the 400 in 58.56, the 100 hurdles in 13.8, the high jump with a mark of 5-2 and the long jump with a mark of 16-10¾.

Centennial’s Sydney Badger won the 800 in 2:21.23 and the 1,600 in 5:04.91.

Falcons top Patriots

At Foothill, Drea Austin and Alyse Vanek each won two events to lead the Falcons to a 70-62 win over Liberty.

Austin won the 100 (11.8) and 200 (25.5). Vanek was first in the 800 (2:32.3) and 3,200 (13:10.0) and ran on the winning 3,200 relay.

Liberty’s Jessica Seel swept the hurdles, taking the 300s in 48.2 and the 100s in 15.5. She also ran on the winning 800 relay.

Ashlie Blake added wins in the shot put (48-4) and discus (151-0) for the Patriots.

Diamondbacks down Longhorns at home

At Desert Oasis, Angelique Gaeta won two events to help the Diamondbacks to a 97½-48½ win over Legacy.

Gaeta won the 1,600 in 5:53.7 and the 3,200 in 13:00.9. Teammate Megan Adams took the discus with a mark of 89-10 and placed second in the shot put at 26-10½.

Legacy’s Traonna Hamblett and Alexys Saiz each won two events. Hamblett won the 100 (12.2) and 200 (25.2), and Saiz swept the hurdles with a 16.5 in the 100 and 49.8 in the 300.

Trojans win five-team meet

At Boulder City, Meghan McDermott won two events to help Pahrump Valley win a five-team meet.

McDermott was first in the long jump (14-2) and the triple jump (32-9).

Pahrump won the meet with 124 points. Boulder City was second with 111 points, followed by Virgin Valley (77), Western (29) and Laughlin (9).

Jana Williams and Whitney Barlow won two events apiece for Boulder City.

Williams took the 1,600 (6:01.5) and 100 hurdles (17.3), and Barlow won the 300 hurdles (49.5) and shot put (35-8½).
