ROUNDUP: Byrne, Gators hit road to top Skyhawks

James Byrne had 13 kills and four aces, and Donovan Santos added 46 assists Friday to rally Green Valley’s boys volleyball team to a 14-25, 25-16, 13-25, 29-27, 15-13 win at Silverado.

Dimitri Santos supplied 12 kills, and Jake Johnson notched 10 kills for the Gators, who handed the Skyhawks their first Southeast League loss of the season.

Kyle Divicino had 18 kills, and Hunter Witt added 15 kills for the Skyhawks, who got 10 kills from Shawn Steckel.

Cheyenne 3, Mojave 2 —  At Cheyenne, Brandon Bonnetts had 19 assists to help the Desert Shields edge the Rattlers, 25-22, 26-28, 25-21, 10-25, 15-12.

Honorio Tovar-Garcia added 28 kills, eight digs and two aces, and Vincent Aburto had eight assists, four digs and three blocks for Cheyenne, which claimed its first win of the season.

Christian Lintiaco logged 23 assists, 18 digs, eight blocks and six kills to lead Mojave. Billy Murphy added 13 kills, eight digs and two aces for the Rattlers.

Centennial 3, Arbor View 1 — At Centennial, Dane Hunsicker had 11 kills and eight aces to lead the Bulldogs past the Aggies, 25-10, 25-15, 19-25, 25-16.

Dustin Buell helped Centennial with eight kills and three blocks, and teammate Mikahael Waters added four kills.

Darrell Swanson had 14 digs and seven kills to lead Arbor View, and teammate Richie Garness supplied 24 assists and eight kills.

Shadow Ridge 3, Cimarron-Memorial 1 — At Cimarron, Tanner Maxwell had 26 kills and 15 digs to lead the Mustangs to a 25-12, 25-17, 20-25, 25-11 victory over the Spartans.

Brandon Fisher added 11 kills, and Braden Taylor had 21 assists, eight kills and six blocks for Shadow Ridge.

Hayden Newton led Cimarron with eight kills and eight digs. Braydon Egbert added five kills and nine digs, and Taylor Larsen had 12 assists for the Spartans.

Palo Verde 3, Legacy 0 — At Palo Verde, Andrew Weston had 22 assists and seven digs to lead the Panthers to a 25-7, 25-15, 25-15 victory over the Longhorns.

Trent Gneiting helped Palo Verde with 11 kills, nine digs and three aces, and teammate Jordyn Martin added nine kills, nine digs and two blocks.

Coronado 3, Basic 0 — At Coronado, Connor Stephenson had 34 assists and six aces to lead the Cougars to a 25-15, 25-19, 25-16 win over the Wolves.

Brandon Dau added 10 kills and three blocks, and Matt Pettit had nine kills and seven digs for Coronado, which got eight kills and five digs from Austin Moiseyev.

Weston Crum led Basic with nine kills, three blocks and eight digs. Sean-Michael Medina added nine digs for the Wolves.

Liberty 3, Tech 1 — At Tech, the Patriots posted a 26-28, 25-21, 25-20, 25-20 win over the Roadrunners.

Zach Gomez had 20 digs, and Dalton Webb added 15 kills and five blocks for Tech, which got 15 kills from Adan Hernandez.
