ROUNDUP: Murphy, Rattlers hold off Desert Shields’ late rally

Billy Murphy posted 22 kills and 12 digs Friday to help Mojave’s boys volleyball team outlast visiting Cheyenne, 25-20, 25-17, 20-25, 21-25, 15-12.

Christian Limtiaco contributed 20 digs and 13 assists, and teammate David James added 20 assists, eight digs and six kills for Mojave.

Audel Rodriguez dished out 18 assists, and Naenoa George had 11 kills for Cheyenne.

Coronado 3, Basic 1 — At Basic, Connor Stephenson had 39 assists to help the Cougars defeat the Wolves, 25-8, 25-18, 19-25, 25-12.

Brandon Dau added 15 kills and 10 digs for Coronado. Teammate Austin Moiseyev finished with 15 kills, and Coltin Romney supplied 17 digs.

Weston Crum led Basic with 15 kills and six digs. Steven Stembridge added 14 assists, and Sean Michael Medina supplied 10 digs for the Wolves.

Palo Verde 3, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Andrew Weston had 18 assists and eight digs to help the Panthers roll to a 25-16, 25-15, 25-21 victory over the Longhorns.

E.J. Vandersteldt  had seven kills and four aces to help Palo Verde, and teammate Vince Hipwell added six kills.

Jared Cox led Legacy with 13 blocks and four kills. Justin Paquin added nine kills, four blocks and two aces for the Longhorns, who got eight assists and three digs from Kevin Noorda.

Shadow Ridge 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Tanner Maxwell had 17 kills, 13 digs and five aces to help the Mustangs roll past the Spartans, 25-20, 25-11, 25-22.

Jalen Makaiwi added 13 assists and seven digs to help Shadow Ridge.

Kyle Henrikson led Cimarron with 14 kills, and teammate Devin Davis finished with eight digs.

Liberty 3, Tech 0 — At Liberty, Sebastian Magno dished out 23 assists, and Gil Lim put up 16 digs as the Patriots swept the Roadrunners, 25-20, 25-18, 25-21.

Alex Tejada and Kai Nacua each put down eight kills for Liberty.

Hector Galvan supplied 15 assists, and Edwin Lopez had five kills for Tech.
