ROUNDUP: Pechacek helps Aggies grab postseason berth
Shiloh Pechacek had 12 digs and four aces Thursday as Arbor View’s boys volleyball team clinched a Sunset Region playoff spot with a 25-10, 25-10, 25-11 home sweep of Legacy.
The Aggies tied Cimarron-Memorial for fourth at 7-7 in the Northwest League, but Arbor View earned the playoff spot by virtue of the Nevada Interscholastic Activites Association’s third tiebreaker.
The teams split their season series and had an equal number of wins by beaten opponents. The Aggies won one more set than Cimarron in their head-to-head meetings to advance.
Bobby Heron added five kills and five blocks, and Brennon Truman had seven kills and three blocks for Arbor View.
Erik Valerio dished out nine assists for the Longhorns, who got four kills each from Justin Paquin and Jordan Pinkney.
Basic 3, Tech 0 — At Basic, Weston Crum had 12 kills and 19 digs, and Mark Bowman added seven blocks as the Wolves clinched the Southeast League’s final postseason berth with a 25-13, 25-23, 26-24 win over the Roadrunners.
Steven Stembridge dished out 16 assists, and Robbie Nelson added 21 digs for Basic, which scored the final seven points of the match to earn the sweep.
Sean Medina had 17 digs for the Wolves, who got five kills from Drake Geniec.
Dalton Webb paced Tech with 10 kills, and Edwin Lopez supplied 15 assists. Teammate Adan Hernandez added five kills.
Centennial 3, Cimarron-Memorial 1 — At Cimarron, Ryan Ramin had nine kills, and Dylan Buell and Dylan Morris each added seven kills as the Bulldogs secured the outright Northwest title by defeating the Spartans, 25-20, 25-19, 17-25, 25-11.
Ares Manumaleuna put down 10 kills for Cimarron, and Tanner Maxwell supplied 14 assists and six kills for the Spartans.
Palo Verde 3, Mojave 0 — At Palo Verde, Brandon King had 15 kills to lead the Panthers to a 25-12, 25-5, 25-15 sweep of the Rattlers.
Sean Wilson dished out 27 assists for Palo Verde, and Pat Morrison added seven digs.
Shadow Ridge 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Justin Kent had 11 kills, and Collin Johnson added 10 kills as the Mustangs rolled to a 25-16, 25-22, 25-19 sweep of the Desert Shields.
Cody Tesoro contributed 21 digs for Shadow Ridge.
Casey Johanson paced Cheyenne with seven kills and two blocks. Nathan Pryor supplied four kills and four blocks, and Jaaron Morris tallied six blocks and two kills for the Desert Shields.
Coronado 3, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Byrin Romney dished out 40 assists, and Chris Andrulis put down 25 kills as the Cougars secured the Southeast League’s top seed for the Sunrise Region playoffs by sweeping the Dragons, 25-23, 25-20, 25-19.
Nick Maglaras had 30 assists, and Eric Beil totaled 16 kills for Del Sol.
Silverado 3, Foothill 0 — At Foothill, Brian Theophil and Curtis Hadland had five kills apiece as the Skyhawks cruised to a 25-13, 25-10, 25-15 sweep of the Falcons.
Dakota Relle dished out 10 assists for Silverado.
Kendall Andrews had four kills for Foothill, which got eight assists from Dominic Hoffman and 10 digs from Darius Gates.
Green Valley 3, Liberty 0 — At Liberty, the Gators cruised to a 25-13, 25-19, 25-12 win over the Patriots.
Guilano Lopez had five kills for Liberty, which got four assists from Oscar Palma and three kills from Daniel Filimona.
