VOLLEYBALL: Wildcats rally for five-set win over Cougars

Luis Wong had 32 assists and five kills, and Raymond Magante supplied 13 kills and two aces as the Las Vegas boys volleyball team rallied for a 21-25, 25-23, 15-25, 25-19, 15-9 victory over Coronado on Tuesday.

Cannon McCoy registered 16 digs, and Brandon Kampshoff added nine kills for the Wildcats.

J.J. Meath tallied 22 kills for Coronado.

Arbor View 3, Palo Verde 2 — At Arbor View, Treven Clizbe and Brenden Wagner put down 25 kills apiece as the Aggies outlasted the Panthers, 25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 16-25, 16-14.

Brenden Gougeon added 48 assists for Arbor View, which trailed 14-13 in the fifth set before Jacob West served three straight points, including one ace, to spark the Aggies to victory.

Scott Solan led Palo Verde with 15 kills and four blocks. Chandler Juilfs had 15 kills and 13 digs, and Haden Van Orden dished out 50 assists for the Panthers, who also got 22 digs from Jacob Scheer.

Bonanza 3, Silverado 1 — At Bonanza, Bronson Duckworth had 23 assists, eight kills and five digs, and Tyler Simmons supplied 22 digs and three aces as the Bengals took down the Skyhawks, 26-24, 22-25, 25-20, 25-22.

Robby Adair had 21 kills, and Adam Escobar added 16 digs for Bonanza.

Cody Steckel recorded 28 assists, 14 digs, four aces and two blocks to lead Silverado, and teammate Taz Goon added 16 digs, eight kills and two aces.

Durango 3, Rancho 1 — At Rancho, Andre Shabazz had eight kills, 48 assists and 15 digs to help the Trailblazers to a 25-20, 25-21, 26-28, 25-23 win over the Rams.

Michael Diggins added 23 kills and 13 digs, and Jaylen Clark had 12 kills and 18 digs for Durango.

Lamont Traylor paced Rancho with 23 kills, seven digs and five blocks, and teammate Daniel Grantham added four kills, five blocks and three digs.

Shadow Ridge 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Jason Corrales had 12 assists, two aces and two digs, and Erick Forbush notched 10 kills as the Mustangs swept the Spartans, 25-15, 25-9, 25-16.

Cody Brown added seven digs and two aces for Shadow Ridge.

C.J. McInnis led Cimarron with 34 assists and four aces. Cody Heathcock had 15 kills and three aces, and Cameron Renner supplied 10 digs for the Spartans.

Valley 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Valley, Marty Heavey notched 12 kills and seven digs, and Justin Sandoval had 19 assists as the Vikings swept the Diamondbacks, 25-16, 25-17, 25-13.

Jared Marchelo added eight kills for Valley.

Billy Cameron tallied 14 kills, three digs and two blocks to lead Desert Oasis. Bryson Sadama had 12 digs, and Colin Bracchi added three blocks for Desert Oasis.

Green Valley 3, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Zachary Hewitt had 38 assists and three aces as the Gators swept the Dragons, 25-12, 25-12, 25-13.

James Reed had 12 kills, and Chase Larson had 11 kills for Green Valley.

Anthony Nehme paced Del Sol with four kills and five blocks. Blaine Quitog had four kills and five digs, and Nate Bryan added five digs for the Dragons.

Foothill 3, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Eric Szukiewicz had nine kills and four blocks to lead the Falcons to a 25-23, 25-5, 25-20 sweep over the Longhorns.

Shilo Chow dished out 26 assists, and Zachary Sangster had four kills and eight digs for Foothill, which also got eight digs from Troy Bell.

Omari Wheeler led Legacy with 12 kills and five digs. Anthony Guevara had four kills and six digs, and Matthew Cook notched 21 assists for the Longhorns.

Basic 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Basic, Brad McDonald tallied 19 kills to help the Wolves sweep the Pioneers, 25-8, 25-12, 25-9.

Matt Gajeski had 35 assists for Basic.

All-state teams in all eight spring sports will be released one per day, beginning on June 6 with boys golf.
