3A HONORS: Eagles’ trio named to all-state first team

A trio of Boulder City girls volleyball players received first-team honors on the Class 3A all-state team.

Boulder City outside hitter Whitney Barlow, setter Avalon Frantz and middle blocker Mallory Bird were named to the first team.

The trio helped the Eagles (29-8) finish one win shy of the program’s first state title since 1989.

Virgin Valley middle blocker Alora Bonner, Moapa Valley outside hitter Emma Eira and Boulder City libero Ali Rants received second-team honors.

Most Valuable Player went to Truckee outside hitter Annie Reiswig, who led the Wolverines to a 3-0 sweep of Boulder City in the state final for their third consecutive state championship.
