LADY TROJAN INVITE: The Meadows fires six straight sweeps en route to title

Vanessa Hall collected 24 assists, 10 digs and five kills Saturday as The Meadows’ girls volleyball team pushed past Pahrump Valley, 25-22, 25-19 in the championship match of the Lady Trojan Invitational at Pahrump.

The Mustangs swept six consecutive matches Saturday and finished 9-0 in the two-day tournament.

Sinead Lopez and Casey Kanarek each added 12 digs for The Meadows in the title match. Alex Hall had 11 kills and eight digs, and Kathryn Chakmak contributed six kills and six blocks.

The Mustangs were 25-9, 25-14 winners over Mountain View in the quarterfinals and 25-19, 25-15 winners over Tonopah in the semifinals to get to the championship match.

Earlier Saturday, The Meadows swept pool-play matches against Moapa Valley (25-16, 25-17), Tonopah (25-23, 25-20) and Indian Springs (25-13, 25-13).

In other tournament matches Saturday:

The Meadows 2, Tonopah 0 — Vanessa Hall’s 20 assists and 11 digs, and Lopez’s 16 digs helped the Mustangs to a 25-19, 25-15 win over the Muckers.

Alex Hall added 10 kills and seven digs for the Mustangs. Jackie Lipkowitz supplied six kills and seven digs, and Chakmak added five kills and four blocks.

Tonopah's Britney Klapper had 80 assists in the tournament. Sam Kimber added 36 kills and 12 blocks and Deanna Van Poucke compiled 23 kills during the Muckers' matches.

Pahrump Valley 2, Calvary Chapel 0 — The Trojans advanced to the final with a 25-14, 26-24 win over the Lions.

Brettani Davis had 23 digs and two kills to lead Calvary Chapel.

Laura Perri dished out 11 assists for the Lions. Bri Ridley collected 10 kills, and Brooke Davis supplied nine digs for Calvary Chapel.

Calvary Chapel 2, Indian Springs 0 — Perri distributed 13 assists and two kills to lead the Lions to a 25-14, 25-11 win over the Thunderbirds in a quarterfinal match.

Brettani Davis had 10 digs and two kills, Brooke Davis had seven digs, and Ridley supplied five kills and four digs for the Lions.

Calvary Chapel 2, Pahrump Valley 0 — Perri collected 19 assists and three aces as the Lions defeated the Trojans in morning pool play, 25-20, 25-15.

Brettani Davis added 16 digs and two kills, and Brooke Davis had nine digs for Calvary Chapel. Ridley contributed nine kills and three digs, and Chelsea England added six kills for the Lions.

Calvary Chapel 2, Mountain View 0 — Athena Lewis and Brooke Davis each served five aces in the Lions’ 25-9, 25-8 blitz of the Saints.

Perri dished out nine assists, and Ridley had six kills for the Lions, who got five digs and four aces from Brettani Davis.

Calvary Chapel 2, White Pine 0 — Deja Harris had five kills to help the Lions breeze past the Bobcats, 25-12, 25-13.

Brettani Davis added six digs and two kills, and Brooke Davis had four kills and three digs for Calvary Chapel.

Lake Mead 2, Beatty JV 0 — Anny Liston had eight kills and three aces to power the Eagles past Beatty's junior varsity, 25-12, 25-11.

Megan Watkins supplied 12 assists, and Heather Hillenbrand added five kills and two blocks for Lake Mead.

Lake Mead 2, Pahrump Valley JV 0 — Ashley Newton put down 11 kills as the Eagles rolled past Pahrump's junior varsity, 25-18, 25-7.

Watkins dished out 17 assists, and Colleen Zumaran served four aces for Lake Mead.

Lake Mead 2, Beatty 0 — Newton had 10 kills, and Watkins dished out 12 assists as the Eagles downed the Hornets in pool play, 25-19, 25-18.

Liston had six digs for Lake Mead.

Lake Mead 2, Round Mountain 0 — Watkins served seven aces and distributed eight assists as the Eagles blitzed the Knights, 25-6, 25-7 in the consolation quarterfinals.

Liston put down seven kills. Zumaran served four aces, and Hillenbrand added four kills and three aces for the Eagles.

Lake Mead 2, Beatty 0 — Liston supplied eight kills and three aces to give the Eagles their second win over the Hornets, 25-20, 25-13 in the consolation semifinals.

Watkins distributed 12 assists, and Newton contributed four kills and four aces.

Lake Mead 2, Desert Oasis 1 — Newton had 15 kills, 13 digs and three blocks as the Eagles outlasted the Diamondbacks in the consolation final, 25-16, 22-25, 16-14.

Watkins dished out 23 assists, and Hillenbrand added seven kills for Lake Mead.
