ROUNDUP: Trojans sweep Spring Valley, await Bonanza’s match to decide postseason fate

Pahrump Valley’s girls volleyball team did its part Thursday in an effort to secure third place in the Southwest League.

But even though the Trojans swept Spring Valley, they’ll have to wait until Monday to find out where they’ll fit into the postseason picture.

Ashley Lindgren dished out 20 assists, and Katelyn Barnes had six digs as the Trojans were 25-9, 25-15, 25-14 winners at Spring Valley.

Taylor Ball had nine kills, and Kayla Foster added six kills for Pahrump Valley, which improved to 11-5 in the Southwest, good for a one-half game lead over Bonanza.

The Bonanza-Sierra Vista match scheduled for Thursday was postponed until Monday at 4 p.m. due to a water main break at Bonanza.

Bishop Gorman 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Gorman, Kaylee Chun had 30 assists and four aces as the Gaels swept Desert Oasis, 25-13, 25-8, 25-21.

Larissa Silcox has eight kills, and Michela Alcott added six kills for Gorman.

Western 3, Clark 0 — At Clark, Michelle Simon had 16 kills, and Daresheoun Lee added 15 kills to help the Warriors beat the Chargers 25-12, 25-23, 25-19.

Bree Hults added seven digs for Western.

Elena Kniola led Spring Valley with three digs, two blocks and three kills. Chaw Tun had three kills, and Shannon Larson added eight kills and 12 digs for the Grizzlies.

Centennial 3, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Lacy Miyahira had 11 assists, two aces, six kills, four blocks and two digs to help the Bulldogs defeat the Longhorns 25-19, 25-10, 25-8.

Morgan Vieira added seven assists, six kills and two digs, and Tiffany Chapman supplied five digs for Centennial.

Tia Matthews had seven kills and Kayla Murray added five for Legacy.

Cheyenne 3, Mojave 1 — At Mojave, Andrea Schmitz had 10 assists and two kills, and Jamie Schaefer supplied four kills and four assists as the Desert Shields beat the Rattlers 25-16, 22-25, 25-10, 25-13.

Shaunice Cameron added five kills for Cheyenne.

Jazmine Gardner had nine digs and four kills, and Bobbie Harris had 12 digs for Mojave.

Shadow Ridge 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Cimarron, Kylee Schraft had 10 digs, seven kills and two aces as the Mustangs cruised to a  25-12, 25-19, 25-13 victory over the Spartans.

Destinee Beavers had seven kills and three aces for Shadow Ridge.

Merrik Frost had four aces, six digs and 12 assists for the Spartans, and Leilani Blanco added six kills and six digs.

Virgin Valley 3, Moapa Valley 0 — At Overton, Annie Biasi had 13 kills and Rachel Morris added 12 to help Virgin Valley to a 25-18, 25-17, 25-23 win over the Pirates.

Nikki Hafen added 30 assists for the Bulldogs.

Caley Dunlap had 19 digs and Emily Paul seven kills for Moapa Valley.

The Meadows 2-2, West Wendover 0-0 — At The Meadows, the host Mustangs wrapped up at least a share of the Class 2A Southern League title and the No. 1 seed for the league tournament by beating West Wendover, 25-17, 25-7 and 25-11, 25-6.

In the opener, Vanessa Hall dished out 18 assists, and Kristyna Fong had 12 digs for The Meadows. Laura Walsh added nine kills and Katherine Chakman had five for the Mustangs.

In the second match, Vanessa Hall had 14 assists and seven digs. Alex Hall added eight digs and Fong contributed seven for The

Meadows, which got six kills and three aces from Lindsie Kutcher.

Lincoln County 2-1, Calvary Chapel 1-2 — At Calvary Chapel, Bri Ridley had 13 kills and seven digs in the second match as the Lions earned a doubleheader split with the Lynx.

Lincoln County won the opener, 22-25, 25-21, 15-9. Calvary Chapel took the second match, 21-25, 25-14, 16-14.

In the opener, Marissa Smerek had 13 kills and Michelle Wheatley eight kills for the Lynx, who also got 15 assists from Kori Gloeckner.

Brettani Davis had 20 digs and two kills for Calvary Chapel. Laura Perri added nine assists and five digs, and Eboni Brown had eight digs for the Lions.

In the nightcap, Davis had 24 digs, Brown had 13 digs, and Perri added 18 assists and seven digs for the Lions.

Smerek again had 13 kills, and Wheatley added eight. Gloeckner dished out 10 assists.

White Pine 2-2, Mountain View 0-0 — At Ely, Sam Hibbs had 22 assists in the first match and 18 more in the second as the Bobcats swept the Saints 25-16, 25-18 and 25-20, 25-15.

Catlin Ankey had nine kills in the first match and five in the second, and Chelsie Heggie added four kills in each for the Bobcats.

Charde Page had three blocks in each match to lead Mountain View. Zari Riley had two blocks in the first and two kills in the second.

Needles 2-2, Agassi Prep 0-0 — At Agassi Prep, the visiting Mustangs swept the Stars by scores of 25-18, 25-9 and 25-21, 25-12.

Tonopah 3, Indian Springs 0— At Indian Springs, Britney Klapper recorded 21 assists, and Sam Kimber had 11 kills and four blocks to lead the Muckers past the Thunderbirds 25-13, 25-17, 25-15.

Alli Friel had five digs, and Megan Thibodeaux added three aces for Tonopah.

Round Mountain 3, Henderson International 1 — At Henderson International, the visiting Knights posted a 26-24, 21-25, 25-20, 26-24 win over the Wolverines.

Lee Harrison had 11 kills, and Fabi Pachas added nine kills and seven digs for the Wolverines.
