VOLLEYBALL: Lake Mead’s Lewis ends career on winning note

Diana Lewis ended her 14-year career as Lake Mead’s volleyball coach on a winning note Friday, helping the Eagles to a 22-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-9 win over visiting Laughlin.

Lewis, who led the Eagles to the 2008 Class 1A state title, is relocating to Auburn, Ala.

Shannon Regan had 13 kills, two aces and two digs, and Rachael Watkins supplied 26 assists, 10 digs, three kills and three aces for Lake Mead. Taylor Webb chipped in eight kills and 19 digs, and Jenette Hensley contributed seven aces, two assists and 22 digs for the Eagles, who got seven kills from Alayna Lippert.

Calvary Chapel 2-2, The Meadows 1-1 — At Calvary Chapel, Deja Harris had 12 kills and three digs in the opener and 16 kills and four blocks in the nightcap as the Lions defeated the Mustangs, 23-25, 25-18, 15-6 and 25-13, 22-25, 15-12.

Brooke Davis had 21 assists, and Alexis Harris had seven kills, two aces and six digs in the first match for Calvary Chapel.

In the finale, Davis had 20 assists, and Alexis Harris added five kills for the Lions, who also got six digs from Athena Lewis.

Brooke Brennan had six kills, 14 digs, and two aces, and Lena Schulhofer added 19 assists and eight digs in the first match for The Meadows. Schulhofer had 11 assists and eight digs, and Brennan added five kills and 12 digs in the finale.

Bishop Gorman 2, Rim of the World (Calif.) 0 — At Torrey Pines, Calif., the Gaels were 25-14, 25-12 winners against Rim of the World in the ASICS Challenge.

Bishop Gorman 2, Bonita Vista (Calif.) 0 — At Torrey Pines, Calif., the Gaels topped Bonita Vista, 27-25, 25-14 in the ASICS Challenge.

Pahranagat Valley 3, Sandy Valley 0 — At Sandy Valley, the Panthers were 25-11, 27-25, 25-21 winners over the Sidewinders.
