VOLLEYBALL: Nihipali records 25 kills, leads Mustangs past Gaels

Whittnee Nihipali had 25 kills, 15 digs and four aces on Tuesday to help Shadow Ridge's girls volleyball team to a 25-19, 25-17, 18-25, 18-25, 15-11 win at Bishop Gorman.

Eadara Files had 40 assists, 16 digs and six aces, and teammate Kizzy Rodriguez had 29 digs for the Mustangs.

Vashti Cunningham led Gorman with 17 kills and two blocks. Lilly Hoff added 27 assists and 15 digs for the Gaels, who got nine kills apiece from Abbey Archambault and Reese Rossnagel.

Tech 3, Sunrise Mountain 2 — At Tech, Katherine Hernandez had 18 kills, nine digs and three aces as the Roadrunners rallied for a 28-26, 23-25, 20-25, 25-22, 15-8 victory over the Miners.

Samantha Backman added 22 assists, five kills, five digs and two aces for Tech, and teammate A'Nae Lewis had nine kills. Jasmine Ramos had 11 digs and four kills for the Roadrunners.

Selena Martinez led Sunrise Mountain with five digs, four aces and two kills. Andrea Garner added three kills, three blocks, two aces and two digs for the Miners, who got four kills from Destiny Hodges.

Legacy 3, Palo Verde 1 — At Legacy, Kamaile Mendonsa had 45 assists, eight digs and three kills to lead the Longhorns to a 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 25-19 victory over Palo Verde.

Mia Suzuki had 37 digs, and Jorden Yamaguchi notched 21 digs for Legacy. Danielle Castillo had 16 kills, and Kiana Carter had 11 kills for the Longhorns.

Kayla Kinney led Palo Verde with 25 kills and 18 digs. Emma Gutierrez had 36 assists for the Panthers, and teammate Virginia Rallo had 21 digs.

Coronado 3, Green Valley 0 — At Coronado, Carolyn Andrulis had 13 kills and 11 digs to lead the Cougars to a 25-10, 25-21, 25-12 victory over the Gators.

Cali Thompson added 40 assists and six digs, and teammate Emily Bender had 11 kills and 15 digs for Coronado. Navi Lee had eight kills and 11 digs for the Cougars.

Rachel Klopfer had seven kills and four digs to lead Green Valley, and Carlee Becker had 11 assists, five digs and two blocks for the Gators.

Foothill 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Kiley McCall had 25 assists, three blocks, three aces and two kills, and Tessa Michalosky provided five kills, four aces and two blocks to help the Falcons sweep the Sundevils, 25-15, 25-14, 25-14.

Whitley Brow added seven kills and two blocks for Foothill.

Eldorado's Abigail Olsen had 26 assists, four blocks and two aces. Anya Olsen added nine kills and two aces for the Sundevils, who got six kills and three digs from Kiana Parkes.

Boulder City 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Boulder City, Tara Cox had 18 assists and six aces to lead the Eagles to a 25-9, 25-2, 25-8 win over the Jaguars.

Alea Lehr supplied nine assists and five aces, and Maggie Roe put down 10 kills for Boulder City, which got eight aces from Hunter Spragno.

Rancho 3, Basic 0 — At Basic, Kayla Coles had 14 kills, eight digs and two aces to lead the Rams to a 25-7, 25-19, 25-21 victory over the Wolves.

Samantha Pochop added six kills and seven digs for Rancho, and teammate Serenity Sivongsa had 14 assists, nine digs and five aces.

Haley Atkin had 13 digs for Basic, and Brooke Levengood added four kills, nine digs and two blocks for the Wolves.

Virgin Valley 3, Chaparral 0 — At Mesquite, Janella Fiso had 20 assists and six aces to lead the Bulldogs to a 25-10, 25-15, 25-6 sweep of the Cowboys.

Kaydee Bingham added five kills and four aces for Virgin Valley, which got six kills apiece from Bernice Fiso, Briana Todd, and Emma Barnum.

Moapa Valley 3, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Dannika Gordon had five kills and six aces, and JaLea Blasingame had seven kills as the Pirates defeated the Dragons, 25-12, 25-11, 25-4.

Aria Messer added 24 assists and five aces for Moapa Valley.

Calvary Chapel 3, Lake Mead 0 — At Lake Mead, Mariah Martin had 27 assists in the Lions' 25-20, 25-17, 25-23 win over the Eagles.

Sara Hernandez and Lexi Davis each added 14 digs, and Olivia Kaiser had 12 kills for Calvary Chapel. Malia Lee added eight kills for the Lions.

Josey White led Lake Mead with six kills. Allee Butz added four kills and three aces for the Eagles, who got 15 digs from Jenette Hensley.

Beaver Dam 3, Word of Life 0 — At Littlefield, Ariz., the Diamondbacks defeated the Eagles, 25-11, 25-14, 25-11.
