ROUNDUP: Watson goes distance to help Gators split tri-meet
Spencer Watson won one match by pin and another in triple overtime Wednesday to help Green Valley’s wrestling team earn a split in a triangular meet at Basic.
The Gators topped the host Wolves, 45-21 after dropping a 45-30 decision to Moapa Valley. Basic was a 45-36 winner over the Pirates.
Watson, a 119-pounder, nipped Basic’s Vince Segura, 4-3 in three overtimes. He also collected a pin in 1:42 against Moapa Valley.
Basic’s Kevin Smith won twice by pin at 171.
