WRESTLING: Valenti, Gators slip past Bulldogs

Anthony Valenti pinned his opponent in just 29 seconds at 285 pounds on Thursday to lead Green Valley’s wrestling team to a 42-26 home win over Centennial.

Valenti was one of three Gators to earn a first-period pin. Wallace Zernich (126) and Sean Cannon (132) also won by fall for Green Valley.

Nico Antuna (106), Ryan Pierce (113), Hunter Brown (195) and Roger Alvarado (220) had pins for Centennial. Brown and Alvarado pinned their opponents in less than a minute.

Desert Oasis 54, Legacy 28 — At Desert Oasis, Elisha Manago-Gasper (145), Yeyro Guzman (160) and Brandon Armour (285) each pinned their opponent in less than a minute to lead the Diamondbacks past the Longhorns.

Daniel Costa (106) and Joey Dinger (120) also won by fall for Desert Oasis.

Legacy’s Justin Tanner pinned his opponent in 38 seconds at 182 pounds.

Desert Oasis 51, Durango 30 — At Desert Oasis, Costa pinned his opponent in 10 seconds as the Diamondbacks beat the Trailblazers.

Timothy Spaur (132), Preston Prescia (138), Christian Montenegro (160), Ezekiel Santacruz (182), Ryan Knipp (195) and Alec Buenaventura (220) also pinned their opponents for Desert Oasis.

Miguel Burgueno (285) won by pin in 39 seconds for Durango.

Durango 57, Legacy 24 — At Desert Oasis, Jared Smith (126), Anthony Catamalfo (145), Chris Wagner (160) and Burgueno (285) had first-period pins to lead the Trailblazers by the Longhorns.

Frankie Bisacky (106) and Daniel Caswell (120) also won by fall for Durango.

Legacy’s Joshua Rockmaker (152) won by pin in 35 seconds.
