A 76-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon after he was struck by a truck in North Las Vegas.
Just after 4:20 p.m., a white Dodge Ram pickup slammed into the man near West Craig Road and Simmons Street, North Las Vegas police spokeswoman Ann Cavaricci said. Witnesses said the man was in a marked crosswalk when the truck struck him.
The man was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, where he later died. The driver, a 24-year-old woman, stayed on scene and cooperated with police.
It’s unclear whether the driver was impaired or whether speed was a factor, Cavaricci said.
The intersection was shut down after the crash, and as of 9 p.m. traffic was still restricted. The intersection was expected to remain closed for a few more hours as police and the coroner’s office investigated.
The coroner’s office will name the man who died once his family has been notified.
