One person dead after crash involving RTC bus
A woman died after she ran a red light and crashed into an RTC bus in the west Las Vegas Valley Thursday afternoon, Las Vegas police said.
Metro responded to the crash at Desert Inn and Fort Apache roads at 3:02 p.m., according to police.
A silver Audi sedan ran a red light at the intersection and hit the RTC bus, which spun around and hit a white GMC pick-up truck, Metro Sgt. Richard Strader said. The driver of the Audi died at the University Medical Center.
Strader said excessive speed appeared to be a factor in the crash.
The drivers of the pickup truck and RTC bus suffered moderate-to-serious injuries and were taken to UMC, Strader said.
There were no passengers on the RTC bus, Strader said.
This was the 94th traffic fatality in Metro's jurisdiction in 2015. There were 95 at the same point in 2014.
