Las Vegas police take 100 plants in pot bust

Local and federal authorities confiscated about $200,000 worth of marijuana plants Thursday in the southwest valley, Las Vegas police said.

Investigators from Metro, Henderson police and the Drug Enforcement Administration collected about 100 plants from a home in the 6200 block of West Levi Avenue, near South Jones Boulevard and Cactus Avenue.

A renter was growing and packaging pot for sale out of the two-story house for a few months, Metro Lt. Laz Chavez said.

The grow operation took its toll on the house, Chavez said. Walls and electrical wiring had been ripped out, and water used to cultivate the plants caused mold to grow.

The homeowners, whom Chavez said didn’t know about the drug operation, will have to cover the costs of repairs.

Robert Hoier, who is believed to be in his 30s of Las Vegas, faces one count each of possession of marijuana, posess with marijuana with intent to sell, and production of marijuana in the case, police said.
