Private vows set for Wynn, Hissom

One of the city's biggest weddings, the April 30 hitching of Steve Wynn and Andrea Hissom, will follow a private, mostly family affair involving about two dozen people.

But sources say about 1,000 guests in tuxedos and long gowns will be attending the wedding reception.

The wedding is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., with the reception at 7:30 p.m. in the Encore ballroom, according to several invitees interviewed by Vegas Confidential.

As first reported here on Feb. 28, the celebration will include an entertainment lineup put together by famed choreographer and artistic director Kenny Ortega, who co-produced the grand openings of Wynn Las Vegas, Wynn Macau and Encore.

The guest list includes Wynn headliner Garth Brooks, raising speculation that he will be among the entertainers. But it definitely won't be a friends-in-low-places kind of crowd.

Fellow tycoon Donald Trump may miss the wedding to keep a commitment to attend the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner as a guest of the Washington Post.

According to the New York Post, Trump is reportedly trying to spend time with the wedding couple on Friday, the kickoff of the three-day celebration.

That could mean Trump may be shopping for a white suit to attend the poolside white party on the eve of the wedding, which comes a day after the royal wedding of Prince William of Wales and Kate Middleton.

Hissom, a British divorcée who met Wynn on the French Riviera three years ago, will likely spend part of a hectic Friday stealing glances at the royal wedding while tending to last-minute details.

Hissom's wedding ring, reportedly worth $1 million and featuring a 10-carat sparkler, would qualify as a royal jewel.

JIMMERSON'S 60TH SOIREE

Longtime local celebrity attorney Jim Jimmerson spares no expense when it comes to throwing milestone shindigs.

Jimmerson, whose clients range from Mike Tyson to Wayne Newton and Steve Wynn, bought out The Palm restaurant for his 60th birthday bash on Friday.

That was just for starters.

The 260 guests, a mix of who's who of Las Vegas, family, friends and former clients, dined on thick steaks while being entertained by video remembrances, podium testimonials, a band, a bust of Jimmerson and a souvenir bobblehead.

Guests were greeted by a James Bond theme at the door, which was shaped like an entrance to a vault featuring a large safe wheel.

A photographer snapped photos of guests with a gun-toting James Bond lookalike and a scantily clad gold-painted "Goldfinger" model.

Wynn, who was in attendance, delivered the line of the night in a video zinger.

He said the first time he met Jimmerson, it "cost me half my net worth," and added he hoped there wouldn't be a second meeting.

Wynn was referring to his recent divorce, which left his ex-wife, Elaine, with a reported $770 million.

It was Jimmerson's fourth Bond-themed party over the years, commemorating various professional and personal milestones.

Jimmerson's 2002 renewal of vows with wife Carol was an epic gesture in a city built on big spenders.

As 150 guests watched from canal bridges along The Venetian's Grand Canal, 24,000 red rose petals rained on Jimmerson and his wife and their gondola.

"When Jim dies," Reno attorney Gary Silverman told the birthday party crowd, "he wants to die in his own arms."
