Elected officials in Nevada, Nebraska and South Dakota must demand accountability from local 911 service providers (“Las Vegas 911 system restored after outage lasting hours,” April 18 Review-Journal). A 911 system outage of any duration is unacceptable. Many critical communications systems are designed with layers of redundancy to prevent the type of system failure. We can and must do better.
The Raiders continue to abuse their fans and overstay their Las Vegas welcome, as every sports outlet and commentator indicated they were tanking for the first overall draft pick and yet the administrative leaders of this team insisted that was not the case.
For the new year, I think anyone wishing to hold public office should be required to prove that they can tie their shoes.
The glorious Christmas feast hosted by Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada was uplifting.
