LETTER: Why do we always need a national search?

Why is it that any time we need to hire an highly paid government professional — i.e. to replace Jesus Jara, school superintendent — it requires a national or international search? Are there no qualified home-grown applicants to fill such jobs? I guess we just can’t trust someone who grew up and was educated here.
