Unsalted roads on Mount Charleston could endanger lives

So the knee-jerk reaction of the Nevada Department of Transportation, in response to three older homes on Mount Charleston showing some lead in their well water, is to put the safety and possibly the lives of residents and visitors in jeopardy by replacing winter road salt with sand (Wednesday Review-Journal). Marvelous.

So why aren’t the residents responsible for their own plumbing and water purity like the rest of us? Replace your own plumbing or get an ion exchange system. But no.
