Shane Peterson hit two home runs and Matt Clark one, and each drove in three runs to lead the Colorado Springs Sky Sox to an 8-3 win over the 51s and a split of the teams’ four-game Pacific Coast League series Thursday night at Cashman Field.
Peterson connected for a two-run shot in the first inning and a solo blast in the Sky Sox’s three-run eighth, giving him seven home runs on the season. He scored three runs.
Clark hit a two-run double in the third inning and his ninth homer of the season leading off the sixth. His three hits paced a 13-hit uprising by Colorado Springs (18-28).
That was more than enough to back starter Taylor Jungmann (2-2), who held Las Vegas (29-19) to three runs on four hits and two walks and struck out eight in seven innings. Ariel Pena threw two perfect innings to end the game.
Alex Castellanos hit his 10th homer of the season for the 51s, a two-run shot in the fourth, and doubled and scored on Travis Taijeron’s seventh-inning double.
Las Vegas starter Matt Bowman (2-6) gave up five runs, four earned, on seven hits and one walk and struck out three in six innings.
Pete Orr had an RBI triple and Yadiel Rivera a run-scoring double in the eighth for Colorado Springs.
