Dodgers hire Greg Maddux as special assistant

The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to add to their star-studded front office.

Hall of Fame pitcher and Las Vegas native Greg Maddux and Raul Ibanez were named special assistants to president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, the team announced Tuesday.

Maddux and Ibanez, who was known as a power hitter in his 19 years in the major leagues, will join a front office that recently added former Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos as vice president of baseball operations to go with Friedman and general manager Farhan Zaidi.

The Dodgers said in a statement that Maddux and Ibanez would assist with scouting and player development at all levels of the organization.
