Ex-Clipper Matt Barnes shot down by Rihanna on Instagram

Matt Barnes might still be a bit dazed and confused after getting traded twice this summer. The ex-Los Angeles Clippers player is apparently under the illusion that he's in a relationship with Rihanna.

Asked by TMZ Sports on Sunday if he and the singer were dating, Barnes said, "Rihanna's my friend right now, so we'll see how it goes."

Barnes then said there could "possibly" be a future with Rihanna and described their relationship as "just past the crush stage a little bit."

The Clippers traded Barnes and Spencer Hawes to the Charlotte Hornets in June for Lance Stephenson. The Hornets then flipped Barnes to the Memphis Grizzlies for Luke Ridnour.

Asked if it will be difficult to date Rihanna while he's in Memphis, Barnes said, "No, she's rich. We'll be all right."

So where'd they go on their first date?

"All that is rumors. All that is speculation," Barnes said. "We're friends and we'll see where it goes from there."

It went straight down the tubes from there for Barnes as Rihanna ripped him to shreds on Instagram, writing beneath a screen grab of Barnes on TMZ, "#bishwhere #thedevilsaliar #shesnotthatintoyou #shesnotintoyouatall #shesneverevenmetyou #thisactuallyhurtmyfeelings #defamationofcharacter."
