BYU RB Jamaal Williams to miss rest of season

BYU running back Jamaal Williams will miss the final three games of the season after suffering knee injuries Saturday.

Williams will undergo surgery Tuesday, coach Bronco Mendenhall said.

Williams was hurt in the third quarter of BYU’s 27-7 victory over Middle Tennessee when he was hit while catching a pass.

Williams, a junior, was BYU’s leading rusher with 518 yards.

He joins quarterback Taysom Hill on the sideline. Hill has been out for the season since suffering a broken leg last month against Utah State.

BYU (5-4) needs one win to secure a spot in the Miami Beach Bowl. The Cougars finish with UNLV, Savannah State and California.
