August 19, 2016 - 9:08 am
The Review-Journal’s Matt Youmans, Las Vegas handicapper Dave Cokin and Golden Nugget sports book director Tony Miller preview the Chargers’ season in the eighth of a series of 32 NFL team videos:
- San Diego, which lost star safety Eric Weddle to Baltimore, is involved in a troublesome contract dispute with defensive end Joey Bosa, the No. 3 pick in the draft.
- Philip Rivers passed for 4,792 yards last season, second in the league to Drew Brees. But Rivers needs better protection from his offensive line and more production from second-year running back Melvin Gordon.
- Can coach Mike McCoy, who went 4-12 overall and 0-6 in the division last year, survive another losing season?
- The Chargers, long shots to win the AFC West at 10-1 odds, have a big gap to close as they chase the Broncos, Chiefs and Raiders.
- Over or Under 7 regular-season wins?
