The immense interest generated by the Millionaire Maker tournament at the World Series of Poker has caused some changes to the event.
After 6,343 entrants signed up for the $1,500 no limit hold ’em event at the Rio on Saturday, the first-place winner will now get $1,198,680, and the final table will likely be decided Tuesday instead of late today.
The top nine finishers will have at least six-figure paydays, with the top 648 players now finishing in the money.
The final tally made this the largest live $1,500 buy-in event of all time and the eighth-largest live poker tournament ever. Only seven WSOP main events have had larger fields.
