Coach from Las Vegas dreams of spot on Chris Beard’s staff at UNLV

When word got out that Chris Beard was going to be the new UNLV basketball coach, a 45-year-old man from Las Vegas named Che’ Jones wrote a letter and attached a resume about his dream. He wants only to be an assistant basketball coach at UNLV.

Schedule makers do Rebels no favors

When UNLV opened the college football season Sept. 5 in a cornfield outside of Chicago, the Rebels covered the spread against Northern Illinois in a resounding fashion. Bulldogs put Stark Vegas on the map

Mississippi State is the new darling of college football. The Bulldogs hail from “Stark Vegas,” according to a stenciled logo on their footwear.

And the Schweinsteigers — what I like to call German soccer fans in deference to Bastian Schweinsteiger, their beloved bulwark in the midfield — are lined up around the building at Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas to watch it on TV.
