New Orleans City Council to weigh in on NFL officiating

NEW ORLEANS — A New Orleans City Council member says she will file a resolution calling on the NFL to thoroughly review officiating rules, the use of replay technology and the league’s assessment of conflicts of interest.

It’s Council Member Helena Moreno’s response to officials’ decision not to call pass interference or unnecessary roughness penalties against a Los Angeles Rams defensive back at a crucial point in Sunday’s NFC championship game.

A flag on the Rams player would have put the Saints in position to win the game. The Rams went on to win in overtime.

Moreno’s Tuesday news release says the six other council members are joining her as co-sponsors for the resolution, which will be considered Thursday.
