Turning Point: Nwamu’s 3-pointer sparks UNLV scoring run
November 25, 2015 - 6:35 pm
UNLV, who had led by as many as 15 points in the first half, found itself struggling for offense in the second half of Wednesday's Maui Invitational matchup against 13th-ranked Indiana.
Leading 55-53 with just under 8:00 to play, Ike Nwamu scored three of his 16 points over the outstretched hand of Indiana's Nick Zeisloft to put the Rebels back up by five.
Nwamu's 3-pointer was his second in a two-minute span, the first of which ended a three-minute Rebel scoring drought. The latter three-pointer was the start of a 12-1 UNLV scoring run over the next 3:25, which put UNLV ahead 67-54 with 4:15 to play.
Despite a late-game charge, the lead was too much for Indiana to overcome.
