Chapman kicks off youth soccer tourney

Continuing its partnership with community youth, Chapman Automotive is sponsoring the Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club during the Las Vegas Mayor’s Cup International Showcase today through Monday at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex.

More than 450 youth teams from Mexico, Brazil, Australia and Canada will participate in the event.

This is the second tournament a longtime advocate of community youth sports has supported through its partnership with the Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club.

“This is a great event, bringing high-caliber youth soccer teams to our valley,” Chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram General Manager Don Hamrick said. “It’s exciting for us to be a part of, and we’re proud to align Chapman’s brand with events that matter both to us and to our community.”

The weekend’s activities will include a live radio remote, photo booth and the “Kick It to Win It Chapman Challenge,” which gives participants the chance to win logoed Chapman soccer balls.

Also, two guests will win a trip for two to see the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer play in Denver.

“Chapman is a longtime supporter of youth sports and it’s great to see teams from all over the world come here to our city,” said Gary Brewer, general manager of Chapman Chrysler Jeep in the Valley Automall.

The tournament gives an opportunity for youth teams to play before college coaches and recruiters from many regions in a world-class field specifically constructed for soccer by the city of Las Vegas.

The tournament is offered to male and female players ages 14-19. As one of Las Vegas’ largest annual events, the tournament brings an estimated $10 million into the local economy.

“Our joint partnership with Chapman and the city of Las Vegas has made an impact on the growth of our club,” said Gary Soresman, executive director of the Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club. “We are grateful to have Chapman on board once again to add some exciting elements to this year’s tournament and we encourage the community to come on out and have some fun with us.”
