PICK OF THE WEEK:

RIVAS MEXICAN GRILL

SUN WEST Marketplace, 5750 E. SAHARA AVE. at SOUTH SLOAN LANE, 702-875-4134

When you dine here, you are dining in the Rivas family kitchen, where homemade dishes are plentiful and tasty and service is very friendly. Steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas are made with onions and red and green peppers, while the oversized burritos (chicken, steak, bean and cheese, vegetarian, shrimp) can be ordered regular or wet. There are quesadillas, super nachos (add chicken, steak or shrimp), tacos with rice and beans, and large salads featuring fresh shrimp. Among the sandwiches are chicken, steak, shrimp and vegetarian. Platters of fries can be ordered smothered in shrimp, steak or chicken. All items can have extra toppings such as lettuce, cilantro, sour cream, Mexican salsa, tomatoes, guacamole, ranch or Thousand Island dressing and onions. Start the morning with a breakfast burrito with bacon or ham. Two daily specials are five rolled beef or chicken tacos with rice, beans, guacamole and a soda ($5) or two chile rellenos with rice, beans and tortillas ($7.50). Fries are 79 cents daily from 1 to 4 p.m. Individual tacos start at $2.65. Rivas Mexican Grill is open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
