Henderson/Green Valley Elks Lodge No. 2802, 631 East Lake Mead Parkway, invited Boy Scout Troops 95 and 256 and the lodge-sponsored Cub Scout Pack 304 to assist in the annual retirement of United States flags Sept. 11. The group of 50 scouts was joined by 25 parents and 15 Elks and family members for the ceremony to retire flags that had become worn, torn, faded or soiled. MEETING ON SLOAN CANYON SLATED FOR SEPT. 26

The Bureau of Land Management staff plans a meeting regarding Sloan Canyon from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 26 at the New Song Lutheran Church, 1291 Cornet St.

LIBRARIES SCHEDULE INTRODUCTORY COMPUTER CLASSES

An introductory computer class is set for 10 a.m. Oct. 1 at the Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway. The class is set to cover basic functions and Microsoft Windows 7 and is limited to 12 people.

HENDERSON BLUE RIBBON COMMISSION PLANS COLLEGE NIGHT WORKSHOP

The Henderson Blue Ribbon Commission on Educational Excellence and Youth Opportunity plans its annual College Night workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Road. The event is set to cover applications, scholarship resources, resumes, recommended classes, sports and more. Admission is free, and registration is not required.

GREEN VALLEY LIBRARY TO HOST WORKSHOPS ON AGING
