Top country singers to perform at event

There will be a lot of "whooping and hollering" at today's Country in the Park concert and festival at the Mountain's Edge master-planned community in southwestern Las Vegas.

The free country-themed event features top country music stars and runs 2-9 p.m. at Exploration Park, located at the entrance of the 3,500-acre community at the South Buffalo Drive and Blue Diamond Road intersection. Country in the Park is presented by Mountain's Edge and Vegas Country 95.5 KWNR.

Some of the cheers will be for the great entertainment featuring two Academy of Country Music Awards-nominated singers, David Nail and Lee Brice, and locals favorite Tony Marques of the house band at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill at Harrah's hotel and casino. Marques takes the stage from 3-4:30 p.m. followed by Brice from 5-6 p.m. Nail performs from 6:30-8 p.m.

Vegas Country 95.5 KWNR's popular Mark Stevens and Ransom Reynolds will earn their share of applause as they introduce and emcee the featured entertainment. They'll also be found at the country station's booth.

Children will be busy with many activities including pony rides, bounce houses, relay races, mining for gems and a petting zoo. There are minimal charges for some activities with proceeds benefiting Spread the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids, which helps connect children with books and the enjoyment of reading.

In addition to the live entertainment, adults will enjoy the Budweiser Beer Garden where beer, soda and water will be sold.

There also will be line dancing lessons, food and booth vendors and the many Exploration Park amenities. These include volleyball courts, picnic areas, horseshoe pits, playgrounds, walking trails, replicas of a Western town and an American Indian village archaeology dig site and trails leading to the top of 2,846-foot-tall Exploration Peak.

Several of the Mountain's Edge builders will have booths and share community news, giveaways and/or other activities. Participating builders includeBeazer Homes, Discovery Homes, KB Home, Lennar, Meritage Homes, Pardee Homes, Pulte Homes, Richmond American Homes and William Lyons Homes.

For example, Pulte Homes will have preliminary information on its new Tierra Vista community opening in early June and giveaway items.

Country in the Park attendees also can visit the neighborhoods within the award-winning master plan. Mountain's Edge again was named one of the best-selling master-planned communities in the country by RCLCO, the nation's leading independent real estate advisory firm.

Three of KB Home's new Talavera models will open today and three others will be completed June 4. A soft opening is expected June 11.

All these plans will be solar-ready standard, meaning all piping will be in place so buyers can add solar panels and drop the lines they need without having to rewire the house or run conduit.

Ryland Homes is promoting its Everything's on the House May sales event.

A design center package is offered on select quick, move-in homes purchased in May at all Ryland communities in Mountain's Edge and Providence.

Valued up to $10,000, the package includes a washer, dryer, refrigerator, counter and cabinet upgrades and window treatments, in addition to special financing incentives plus closings costs.

Meritage Homes is including more than $30,000 in energy-saving features in its Extreme Green homes that provide as much as a 50 percent reduction in home energy usage and cost, according to company officials.

Additionally, for a limited time buyers will be able to purchase a complete Echo solar thermal electric energy system for an extremely reduced cost.

Though this adds about $54 per month to their 30-year monthly mortgage payment, it provides up to an 80 percent reduction in home energy usage and cost and allows for a tax credit as much as $6,000, according to company officials.

Prices for Extreme Green homes in Mountain's Edge and Providence start in the $150,000s.
