Veteran loses job for giving food to needy person

A Florida man says he lost his job after he gave free food to a needy person.

According to WWSB, 73-year-old Joe Koblenzer says the general manager of the Cracker Barrel he worked at called him in after and told him they were letting him go after giving the man free food.

“The General Manager called me in and said he had some bad news for me. Joe we are going to have to let you go,” Koblenzer told WWSB.

Koblenzer had given a man he says looked needy a couple packets of condiments and a muffin.

“He looked a little needy. He asked if I had any mayonnaise and some tartar sauce. He said he was going to cook a fish,” Koblenzer told WWSB. “I got it for him. As I walked out I put a corn muffin in.”

Koblenzer had worked at the Cracker Barrel for the past three years.
